Blotter: Woman’s handbag stolen by fellow doughnut shop patron
07:17 AM CDT on Friday, May 16, 2008
A customer ahead of a woman at a doughnut shop stole her handbag from her car, according to a Denton police report.
The woman said she had her two young daughters in her car and stopped at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday to get some doughnuts. She left her daughters and her handbag in the car, parked directly in front of the shop in the 1700 block of Teasley Lane and took a credit card inside. She was in line behind a man, and he left the store as she was being waited on.
Her daughters told her that the man walked by the car, looked at them through the window, then opened the passenger-side door and grabbed the woman’s purse from the seat.
The clerk checked the credit card the man paid for his doughnuts with, and it belonged to a woman, according to the police report.
Other reports
2900 block of Wicker Way — A woman reported that an air-conditioning repairman who came to work on her system apparently stole two bottles of prescription medication.
The victim said the repairman arrived around 2:40 p.m. Monday and stayed about two hours. He said he was looking for a drain and was inside every room in her house, according to the report.
At one point, he was in the kitchen. She stepped out of the room to make a telephone call and heard a kitchen cabinet shut and water running in the sink. As he left, he told her there was more work that needed to be done.
Later, she realized that two bottles of her medication were missing from the kitchen cabinet.
