Blotter: Assault reported after crack buy goes awry

12:38 AM CDT on Wednesday, July 2, 2008

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

A woman told Denton police Tuesday morning that her neighbors tried to beat her up because they gave her $100 to buy crack for them and the money disappeared.

The woman said she agreed to buy the crack from someone who lives in the back of their mobile home park in the 2500 block of Fort Worth Drive. But she didn’t want to go back there, she said, so she gave the money to a man who was supposed to buy the illegal substance, according to the police report.

She said he went to the trailer to buy the crack but someone pushed him down and took the money.

She said when the neighbors found out, a man and two women came to her trailer about 3:30 a.m., pushed their way in and started to assault her and the man. She ran out the back door, she said, but the man was injured.

Other reports

3300 block of Hudsonwood Drive — Two men told police that two armed men came into their apartment and took $1,100, according to police report.

The roommates said someone knocked on their apartment door about 11:30 p.m. One was in the living room talking with a visitor and the other was in his bedroom asleep with his door locked.

One roommate said he thought it was his cousin coming to visit so he opened the door. Two men pointed pistols at him, he said. They took the visitor’s wallet and rifled through it, but it contained no money.

So one man held the two men at gunpoint while the other man searched the apartment. The other man kicked in the locked bedroom door where the other roommate was sleeping and searched his room as well.

The men took the money they found and left, according to the report.
