Blotter: Man charged with delivery of controlled substance
10:47 AM CDT on Thursday, July 3, 2008
A man apparently became nervous when he noticed a police officer looking at him and threw away a bag containing some prescription medication he had stolen, the officer reported.
The officer noted that he was driving in the 2300 block of Roselawn Drive about 8 p.m. Tuesday and saw a man come out from behind some buildings and begin walking down the road. He was looking at the man in his rearview mirror to try to determine what he was doing, the officer wrote.
The man saw the squad car and pulled a small bag out of his pocket. Then he threw the bag in the bushes, the officer wrote.
He approached the squad car, and the officer asked the man what he was doing and what he had thrown away.
The man denied throwing anything. He said he was walking from his aunt’s house to his friend’s house, according to the report.
The officer walked with him to the place where he had seen him throw something and found a plastic bag with two pills inside.
The man said he had taken his aunt’s medication and planned to sell it to his friend for recreational purposes, according to the report. He was taken to jail on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance.
Other reports
1400 block of Stuart Road — A church member found that someone vandalized a church Sunday night or early Monday, according to a police report.
The vandals had attached a water hose to an outside faucet, then ran the hose inside the church and turned the water on.
The restrooms, lobby and part of the church sanctuary were flooded, according to the police report.
500 block of Texas Street — A visitor to a boardinghouse stole belongings from one of the boarders, according to a Monday police report.
The victim said she rents one room in the house, which has a communal living room, kitchen and bathroom. She went into the public area about 9:30 a.m. and found the visitor, who had spent the night with another boarder, rummaging through a closet.
She asked the visitor what she was doing and was told the woman was looking for garbage bags.
But the victim noticed the closet had been ransacked. She went into the bathroom and discovered that her makeup, some clothing and her hairbrush were missing.
She confronted the woman, who denied taking the property.
The suspect left, threatening that the next time she saw the victim she would harm her, according to the police report.
