Blotter: Report: Woman thinks sister up to no good

07:35 AM CDT on Friday, July 30, 2010

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

A woman complained to Denton County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday that she believes her sister is spending their father’s money and committing crimes.

The woman said the sister moved into their father’s house after their mother was placed in a nursing home. He has Alzheimer’s disease, she said.

Since that time last year, a report states, the sister has taken out several credit cards in the father’s name as well as the mother’s. The sister regularly receives packages from high-end stores, according to the report.

The woman said she believes the sister reports that packages are lost and receives new merchandise.

Then she sells the merchandise or returns it for cash, the complainant said.

The woman also believes the sister takes her father to multiple doctors to receive prescriptions that she then uses to overdose her father and keep him from learning about the spending, according to the report.

An investigation is continuing.

Other reports

5200 block of North Interstate 35 — An employee of a camping store reported Wednesday that someone came onto the property from the back lot and broke into at least seven recreational vehicles. The RVs were parked on the lot because they had been brought in by the owners for service.

The burglars wore gloves as they took flat-screen TVs, DVD recorders, miscellaneous property and left every drawer, cabinet and closet door open, according to the report.

The responding officers determined that the burglars also consumed a bottle of wine while in one of the RVs.

2900 block of Wicker Way — A man realized when he went to his pickup Wednesday morning that it had been burglarized during the night.

He found a door standing open and was missing a GPS unit and three rolls of copper tubing.
