Blotter: Man recovers enough to report assault
08:09 AM CDT on Friday, August 20, 2010
A man told Denton police officers on Wednesday that he was severely injured in an assault June 20 and has been recuperating before he could file a complaint.
The man said he manages an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Charlotte Street.
About midnight that day, he saw several men loitering near one of the buildings, and said he knew they did not live in the complex.
He told the men to leave, he said. They began yelling at him and one of them threw a full bottle of beer, striking him in the forehead with it, the report states.
The victim said his eyes were immediately covered in blood from a wound on his forehead. He said that witnesses chased the men, who ran away.
The victim said he drove himself to a hospital emergency room and was taken from there to Texas Harris Methodist Fort Worth.
He underwent surgery, and now has a metal plate in his head, he said. The officer noted the man had a large scar on his forehead.

She said she was bent over, looking at toothpaste, when another woman walked up behind her and began talking about toothpaste.
After the woman walked away and the victim straightened up, she realized that her wallet was missing from her open handbag, which had been in her cart.
She reported losing $20, several gift cards and two credit cards.
She called to cancel the credit cards and learned that someone had tried to use them twice already without success.
1300 block of South Loop 288 — A woman reported that someone who was dressing near her in a fitness gym dressing room stole her $7,000 wedding ring.
The victim said she arrived at the gym about 5:35 a.m. Wednesday. She worked out and then went to the dressing room to get ready for work.
Another woman was dressing near her when she laid the ring on a bench in the dressing room, she said.
She left the gym and started to work.
Then she realized she was missing the ring and immediately returned.
The ring was no longer on the bench and the woman was no longer in the dressing room.
The victim described the ring as a gold band with a centered 1-carat diamond surrounded by two smaller diamonds and baguettes.
