Blotter: Report: Woman lures man into ambush

08:12 AM CDT on Friday, September 3, 2010

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

A man reported that a woman lured him into stopping his truck on State Highway 114 Wednesday to allow two confederates to rob him.

The victim told Denton County sheriff’s deputies that he dropped off his wife at work about 3:15 p.m. in the Rhome area and began driving away. After a short time, he saw a woman wearing shorts and a T-shirt standing near the roadway, and she stepped out as he approached.

He stopped the truck to talk to her, he said. He noticed a car parked near her, and when he stopped, two men got out of the car. They walked to both doors of the truck and told him to get out.

He turned off the ignition and put the key in his pocket. He locked the doors as he got out, he said. One of the men walked him from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side and tried to put him in the truck but the door was locked.

The man bashed the driver’s head into the passenger window, breaking it and cutting his head, according to the report. The man grabbed the driver’s cellphone and wallet and got inside the truck, where he began trying to pry the stereo and radio system out, but the woman yelled that someone was coming, so all three jumped in the car and left. Afterward, the man drove to his wife’s workplace and deputies were notified.
