Blotter: Dad reports son after finding stolen items
08:23 AM CST on Friday, November 20, 2009
A man told Denton police Wednesday that he believes his son is a burglar, after finding property that did not belong to his son hidden in his room.
The man’s son was not at home when an officer arrived at about 2 p.m., according to a police report. The father handed the officer a plastic bag. Nothing inside the bag belonged to his son, he said.
The bag contained two radar detectors, a digital camera, a cellphone charger and a tin of smokeless tobacco. Also inside was an empty prescription bottle for a medication commonly abused by narcotics users.
The father said he found the items hidden in a shoe box in a closet, in dresser drawers and in other hiding places.
The label had been partially torn off the prescription bottle, but the address remained. The officer visited the address. A woman there said she takes that prescription but recently her bottle of medication disappeared. She said she often carried it in her car so it would be available when she needed it. She believes someone took it from her unlocked car, the report stated.
Other reports
1500 block of Meadow Street — A man said Wednesday that his wallet and its contents disappeared while he was at a party held at an apartment Monday night.
He said he visited the apartment along with about 75 other people. He knows he had the wallet when he arrived, but after leaving he discovered it was missing. He believes someone picked his pocket while he was there.
4000 block of Interstate 35 — Someone threw a metal pipe out the passenger-side window of an 18-wheeler at about 1 p.m. Sunday, a woman said Wednesday. The pipe struck her windshield, creating two holes. The woman said she followed the truck almost to Sanger, honking and yelling, but the driver would not stop.
