Blotter: Police seek help in finding missing woman
01:27 PM CST on Friday, November 27, 2009
Denton police are asking for help in locating a woman who has not been seen or heard from in three weeks.
Detective Keith Martin said that Marie Vestal Cox, 25, was last seen Nov. 11 at a convenience store in the 1500 block of Scripture Street. She had been staying with friends at a house in the 200 block of Marietta Street, he said.
“I’ve spoken with all her friends and family that I know about and no one has seen her,” Martin said. “She has not accessed her bank account or logged onto her MySpace page. She frequents the public library and has not been seen there either.”
Martin said Cox is not employed.
Anyone with information about her should call 940-349-7961.
Other reports
3500 block of Quail Creek Drive — A female member of an apartment complex’s maintenance staff reported Tuesday that she was cleaning a floor and realized someone was standing behind her. She looked back and saw an elderly man who is a resident of the complex in the hallway wearing only his underwear.
The man grabbed her hand, she said, and she pulled free and ran from him.
The apartment manager told officers that the elderly man has had 15 complaints made against him in the past few weeks — for such things as walking around in his underwear; making sexual offers to other residents, both male and female; and cursing because the elevator stopped before he was ready to get off.
5800 block of Stone Creek Drive, Sanger area — A former law enforcement officer found a man hiding in the back of his pickup about 6 a.m. Tuesday and detained him until sheriff’s deputies arrived.
The man said the suspect had opened his toolbox and had taken some of his possessions.
Deputies questioned the man and learned he also had burglarized a car down the street, a report states.
The man led deputies to a hiding place where he had stowed the property and they returned it to the owner, who had not yet discovered the crime, the report states.
800 block of Branch Crossing, Lantana area — A man reported to sheriff’s deputies that he was threatened by someone he reported as a drunken driver.
The victim said he received a call about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday from a man who asked if he was the one who caused the man to receive a driving while intoxicated charge.
The man said he is a Tarrant County sheriff’s deputy and he was coming over to harm the victim, the report states. He said the victim should watch out from now on.
The man knew the victim’s address and his cellphone and unlisted home phone numbers, and the victim is afraid.
