Blotter: Man charged with assault
07:22 AM CST on Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Police arrested a man who allegedly threatened a woman at knife-point at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of West Prairie Street on Saturday.
Denton officers responded to a call concerning the incident at about 11 p.m. Upon arrival at the residence, officers could hear people arguing inside, and knocked and yelled for the people inside to open the door, according to a police report.
Lt. Lee Creamer said police could see inside the residence while standing at the door and noticed a woman being pushed into a bedroom.
Officers reported that a man, who was identified as a suspect, opened the door. Creamer said police did a quick search of the apartment where they found a woman seated in a closet crying. It was reported that she had red marks on her neck and chest.
The man was arrested on an assault with a deadly weapon charge and transported to the Denton city jail.
Other reports
400 block of Foxwood Circle — A woman allegedly attacked two men while watching the final Cowboys home game on Saturday. Police were dispatched to the residence at about 10:25 p.m.
According to a police report, the woman became angry during the game and started a verbal altercation with one man and then hit him.
Creamer said the man suffered red marks on his face and neck and a small cut on his eyebrow from the attack. When the woman was asked to leave, Creamer said the woman hit another man in the chest.
The woman was arrested and transported to city jail. Creamer said no reason was given as to why the woman allegedly attacked the two men.
1600 block of East McKinney Street — Police responded to a sandwich shop where a mentally disabled man allegedly assaulted a clerk on Sunday. A call came in at 5:55 p.m. from the shop, where a female clerk told officers the man walked behind the counter and struck her in the arm several times, said Creamer.
At the time of the incident, a report states the clerk was working in the shop alone. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to city jail. Creamer said officers also called Adult Protective Services.
1400 North Locust Street — A woman reported to police about 8:20 p.m. Saturday that a 3-foot-by-3-foot beige wicker table and a brown Christmas basket with poinsettias were stolen from her front porch.
The woman returned home to find the items missing and believes they could have been removed between 12:45 and 7:30 p.m. that day, said Creamer. The table and basket were valued at $200.
2000 block of Hilltop Road in Argyle — Denton County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a Verizon building Friday, where an employee reported that a 19-inch Dell flat-screen television was taken from the building between Dec. 3 and Dec. 16. No forced entry was made into the building, officials said.
The employee reported to deputies that card readers are being installed by the company at that location, and workers have been in and out of the building. The employee was unaware of who may have taken the television. An investigation is ongoing, and the employee said the company is also conducting its own investigation.
