Denton County is blessed to have its share of heroes, says Double Oak Mayor Mike Donnelly.
“The men and women who wear the badge of firefighter and law enforcement officer deserve to be honored with appreciation and respect from each of us. They rush to our aid when we call for help. They protect our lives and property, many times disregarding their own personal safety. They answer our calls to 911 and send help. They speak with our youth and encourage them to do the right thing.
“I ask all Double Oak and Denton County residents, when you have an opportunity, to please tell a firefighter and law enforcement officer thank you for the job they do.”
Donnelly sent this note to the newspaper as a letter, but it works well as the first of a new “Bright Lights” feature starting in this space today.
If you want to thank someone for their contributions to society, spotlight the good deeds of a stranger or have an inspiring story to share, send an e-mail with a contact number to dcobb@dentonrc.com .
