Kevin B. Gunn is the new director of technology services for the city of Denton.
Gunn begins his employment June 2, according to a news release.
In December, the city contracted the Waters-Oldani Executive Recruitment Firm to do a nationwide search. After a review and screening of 66 applicants by Waters-Oldani, five finalists were interviewed by city staff, and Gunn was chosen.
Gunn currently serves as director of information technology for the city of Killeen.
He has been with Killeen since 2004, and is responsible for overseeing the operation of technology resources, developing technology initiatives, developing procedures for the appropriate use of technology and ensuring systems reliability and financial performance.
Before that, Gunn was the enterprise information technology program manager for naval reactors for the Department of Energy from 2002-04, and the senior network engineer and personal computer helpdesk manager as an ensign for the U.S. Navy from 1997-2002.
