Denton-area closings 9:18 AM CDT

No major problems on Interstate 35E as of 7:25 a.m. Southbound lanes at Teasley Lane and I-35E are now open. On the northbound side, 18-wheelers were sliding sideways with one tractor-trailer rig stuck on the side of the road around 6:30 a.m. Some problems were also being reported along U.S. 380, though traffic is moving.
Icy conditions reported along Texas 114, Interstate 35-West and Interstate 35-E. Traffic is moving at a faster pace, though caution is advised.
The near record snowfall, at 7 to 8 inches, that the North Texas area experienced on Thursday has forced cancellation of many of Denton-area schools and universities as well as opening delays. Several preschools and businesses were reporting closures and delays.
Earlier this morning around 5 a.m., police worked accidents at Swisher Road and I-35E, where both sides of the interstate were closed for about 30 minutes until wreckage was cleared, according to WFAA Channel 8.

Forestburg ISD – opening at 10 a.m.
Gainesville ISD – opening at 10 a.m.
Immaculate Conception School – closed
Lake Dallas ISD – opening at 10 a.m.
Little Elm ISD – classes delayed by 2 hours
Liberty Christian – closed
North Central Texas College – Corinth – classes delayed until 10 a.m.
Northwest ISD – closed
Pilot Point ISD – closed
Ponder ISD – closed
Prosper ISD – delayed by two hours
Sanger ISD – closed
Texas Woman’s University – closed
The Selwyn School -- closed
University of North Texas – closed
UNT – Dallas – classes cancelled
Valley View ISD – closed
