DCTA names new head of transportation
07:47 AM CDT on Tuesday, June 23, 2009
The Denton County Transportation Authority Board of Directors named Jim Witt president during a special called meeting on Friday.
In a prepared statement, board President Charles Emery said that Witt, who retired as Coppell’s city manager in 2008 and became DCTA’s interim president on March 9, proved to be a strong leader.
The board also voted to end the employment contract of Scott Neeley, who had been with DCTA for four years. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of rail development, having previously served as the chief operating officer.
The board will seek experienced candidates to guide the program through the next phase.
In the interim, Witt will oversee the A-train project, which began last month and will connect with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system in Carrollton. The project also includes a pedestrian/bike path, improved drainage and sound barriers. It is expected to open December 2010.
