Cheerleaders are collecting sizes for newborns through teens but specifically need sets for pre-teens, teens and children younger than 12 months. All donations will be personally delivered to Children’s Medical Center by the cheer squad on Wednesday, giving patients something to smile about on Thanksgiving.

“I look forward to seeing their faces when they receive the pajamas and how they’re going to react to getting them,” said cheerleader Nikki Watson. “It made me feel really good knowing I can help other kids out there.”

Since Nov. 13, the group has collected more than 50 pairs of pajamas and about $100 in donations. Cheer squad coach Jennifer Hutson will use donations to purchase additional pajamas.

“We just want to offer them support and help and encouragement and comfort because hospital gowns are not always comfortable, and we just want them to feel comfortable,” she said.

On Friday, the cheerleaders hosted Pajama Day, and students and school staff members who gave pajamas or a $1 donation could wear their sleep attire to school.

Students who made pajama donations had their names entered into a drawing for a snack basket valued at more than $30.

People interested in helping with the pajama drive can do so by bringing donations to the main office at Harpool, 9601 Stacee Lane in Argyle.
