Blotter: Report: Man mistaken as friend returns as attacker
11:29 PM CST on Saturday, January 2, 2010
Two men told police a strange man knocked on their door last week and assaulted them with a knife, holding it to their throats and making threats, according to a police report.
The attack allegedly happened during the overnight hours of Dec. 28, after the men let the stranger, who was following them, into their home, mistakenly thinking he was a friend, the report stated.
Once inside, the stranger started talking gibberish and they realized their mistake, the men told police. They told him to leave, according the report, which he did.
However, later that night, the man came back and knocked on the door, the report stated.
With the door closed, the two residents told the man to leave, which they thought he did, but when they checked the porch to make sure, the man surprised them and pulled out a knife, according to the report.
The suspect grabbed one of the residents, an 18-year-old man, and held a 2-inch pocketknife to his throat, the report stated.
The other resident, a 29-year-old man, distracted the suspect long enough for the suspect to release his friend, according to the report.
However, the suspect then went after the older man with the knife, holding it to his throat and telling him, “You know what this is, white boy,” according to a police report.
Both residents were able to get away from the suspect long enough to run inside the residence and lock the door.
The two men were so upset by the incident that they called their parents and a neighbor for help before thinking about filing a police report days later, the report stated.
The suspect is described as a black man who is about 45 years old, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, about 170 to 180 pounds, and was acting fidgety, like he’s on drugs, according to the report.
The suspect also has a shaved head, calls himself “LJ” and has two or three teardrops tattooed under his left eye, the report stated.
Police are investigating the report.
