Blotter: Man reports that teen stole his $900 in cash

A Denton man told police Friday that a high school student he knows robbed him of $900.
The man said he was waiting in a parking lot in the 1200 block of East University Drive for his girlfriend at 5:10 p.m. Friday when the student walked up to his truck and they talked for a few minutes.
The man said he had been counting the money he had just received from cashing his payroll check when the student arrived. The robber reached into the truck, hit the man in the face and grabbed the cash before quickly fleeing, according to the report.

500 block of South Interstate 35E — An Illinois woman reported Friday that she recently received a bill from the Internal Revenue Service saying she owed $3,660 in income tax on money she made at a Denton business.
The woman has never been to or worked in Denton. The federal forms showed someone had used her birth date and Social Security number and another woman’s name to gain employment. An investigation continues.
1500 block of North Interstate 35E — A woman told police that at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, she accidentally dropped her purse in a grocery store without realizing it. When she reached the checkout counter, she told the cashier that her purse was missing, according to the report.
She said her grandson had knocked over a crate of mousetraps and she lost her purse while she was picking them up. A man walked up to her and said he had seen her purse and led her to it. When she got the purse, it was missing $300.

* Denton police handled 843 calls: including two frauds, 11 thefts, seven reports of criminal mischief, one report of graffiti, one unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, one forgery, four cases of possession of marijuana, one case of possession of drug paraphernalia, one case of deadly conduct, one suicidal person, two cases of evading arrest, one case of resisting arrest, one case of making a false report, eight vehicle burglaries, one burglary of a building, two robberies, one report of harassment and five assaults.
* Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 782 calls for service for the agencies they serve. A total of 123 people were booked into county jail. Deputies took reports of three thefts, three burglaries, three cases of criminal mischief, one accidental death, two overdoses, one assault, one threat, one aggravated sexual assault and one vehicle burglary.
Argyle firefighters responded to four medical calls, one suicide attempt and one traffic accident.
Ponder firefighters responded to three medical calls and one traffic accident.
Krum firefighters responded to two medical calls.
Aubrey firefighters responded to five medical calls, one smoke investigation, one gasoline fire, one gas leak, one motorist assist, one structure fire, one patient transfer, one alarm, one suicide attempt and one traffic accident.
Corinth firefighters responded to one fire, one traffic accident and five medical calls.
Pilot Point firefighters responded to two requests for citizen assist, three patient transfers and one medical call.
Oak Point firefighters responded to one medical call.
Sanger firefighters responded to one smoke investigation, two traffic accidents, one fire and two medical calls.
