07:27 AM CDT on Thursday, May 14, 2009

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

Denton police arrested three people on charges of forgery of currency Tuesday afternoon after an investigation led them to a mobile home on Teasley Lane.

Keitha Carson
Kent Gibson
Christopher Runge

Capt. Lenn Carter said three businesses recently turned over $20 bills that had been “washed” and printed over so they appeared to be $20 bills when they actually were lesser amounts.

Detectives followed leads in the case to the mobile home in the 3900 block of Teasley Lane, Carter said, where they executed a search warrant about 5 p.m. and found a forgery lab. He said they seized printing equipment and chemicals used in the forgeries.

Officers arrested Keitha Carson, 27, Kent Gibson, 37, and Christopher Runge, 35. Bail has been set at $75,000 for Runge. The other two have not had bail set. They all remain in city jail.

The investigation is continuing.

Other reports

University Drive at Mayhill Road — Police contacted a man who called for help Tuesday, and after an investigation, learned that he was the suspect, not the victim, of a continuing problem.

The man told police that another man parked across the street was following him. The officers contacted that man and he said the first man had been harassing his friend and now was harassing and threatening him as well.

The friend drove up and said the first man was her former husband who was trying to get back together with her. He calls and follows her, she said, and now is angry because she has a new friend and is threatening him. The people live in another jurisdiction and were advised to contact police there.

1900 block of Piney Creek Boulevard — Someone entered a man’s house while he was out having drinks with a friend, the man reported to police. When he returned, he discovered three laptop computers, a camera and a shotgun missing.

The man locked his front door when he left, he said, but left his garage door open and the connecting door to his kitchen unlocked. He said the shotgun had been in the family for 20 years and the shotgun shells it held were 20 years old.
