Blotter: Women: Masked men stole purses on Fry Street
11:53 PM CDT on Friday, June 13, 2008
Two women told police that two masked men, one with a gun, accosted them while they were walking on Fry Street early Friday and took their handbags.
Denton police are looking for the two men, believed to be in their early 20s, who wore dark clothing and had cloths over their faces.
The women were walking away from a club at about 2:30 a.m. when a man greeted them and kept walking, according to the police report. They heard a voice behind them saying, “Girls, get your purses down.”
They turned and saw the man they had just seen and another man step out from behind some bushes in the 300 block of Fry Street. The men again told them to put their purses on the sidewalk.
One of the women asked to get her car keys, but the man said they had to go. The men grabbed the purses and fled.
The women ran to a nearby house and called 911, but arriving officers did not find the men.
