Blotter: Clerk: Two-gunned, masked man robbed store

08:01 AM CDT on Thursday, July 31, 2008

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

A masked man with a gun in each hand robbed the Deli Quick convenience store Tuesday night.

A clerk said he was finishing paperwork in preparation to close the store in the 1200 block of North Interstate 35 about 10:44 p.m. when a man he had not noticed before tapped him on the chest, according to a police report. The man wore a black ski mask and black gloves, the clerk said.

The robber brandished two revolvers, cursed the clerk and told him to hand over the money. The clerk opened the register, and the robber, still cursing the clerk, told him to put the money in a bag he held out.

The clerk complied and the robber fled the store.

Other reports

400 block of Bryan Street — A caller alerted police to an apartment break-in early Wednesday, according to a police report.

The caller said someone appeared to be hacking and sawing through a wall between two apartments.

Officers arriving about 4:15 a.m. found a man leaving one apartment and starting to enter the one next door. The suspect told police that he had been inside a woman’s apartment next door. He said she was his “now-ex-girlfriend.”

The officers looked inside the woman’s apartment and found it ransacked. Some of the woman’s property was stacked near a closet. There was a large hole in the closet that connected with the closet of the man’s apartment. The officers found women’s clothing scattered in the man’s closet and on the apartment floor.

The officers also noted a hatchet and a saw in the suspect’s apartment, and debris in the closet.

They arrested the man for criminal mischief and burglary.

3900 block of Black Butte — A witness reported seeing a man stealing a street sign just before midnight Tuesday. Officers noted the Black Butte street sign was missing at that corner.

1500 block of Dallas Drive — Two women reported that a half-naked man walked in circles around their car as they prepared to check into a hotel for the night.

The women parked in front of the motel about 9:35 p.m. A man wearing only a yellow T-shirt began walking around their car. The women said the man was masturbating and talking to himself.

Then he left in an older white pickup with a bed topper, according to the report. He was described as about 50 years old with gray hair. He was about 6 feet tall with a medium build, the victims said.
