Blotter: Worker reports burglary at Acme Brick building
07:13 AM CDT on Wednesday, September 2, 2009
Denton police are investigating a burglary that took place over the weekend at an Acme Brick show building.
According to a police report, an employee walked into the building in the 200 block of Daniel Street at about 8 a.m. Monday and found brick and glass fragments scattered around.
There was no sign of forced entry at the front door, but someone had broken an office window. The employee reported that a computer, a CD player and a refrigerator were missing.
Other reports
700 block of West University Drive — The manager of a thrift store called for help Monday, saying a woman had been coming into the store for weeks and not buying anything. The manager said she believed the woman was shoplifting.
The manager said the woman came in every day and stayed a long time. She pushed a cart around and placed items in the cart, according to a police report. She believed that the woman might be placing items in her backpack, and she confronted her.
The woman yelled at her and left but came back the next day and began the same routine. The manager asked that the woman be issued a criminal trespass notice and told to not return.
An officer talked to the woman, who denied shoplifting. The officer issued the citation.
As she was walking away, the woman yelled at the manager, threatening her, according to the report. The officer placed her in handcuffs and took her to jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.
