Blotter: Police: Man stabs ex-wife after reconciliation fails
11:41 PM CDT on Friday, September 3, 2010
Flowers didn’t convince his wife to come back to him, so a Denton man stabbed her three times, police say.
He fled but was found by police later that morning.
The woman was treated at a hospital emergency room for non-life-threatening stab wounds to the right side of her chest, abdomen and arm early Friday.
According to police reports, 27-year-old Antonio Blancas has a history of beating his 20-year-old wife, Jasmin. In June, her mother reported her missing, and after several days police learned she was hiding from him because he had beaten her and threatened to kill her if she told police.
Officers photographed her extensive bruises and scrapes and charged him with assault, according to a report.
Officers were called to a manufacturing company in the 600 block of North Loop 288 just after midnight. They found Jasmin Blancas lying on a table, her clothing bloodied, and paramedics took her to an area hospital for treatment.
Witnesses said Antonio Blancas went to the business at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. He took a bunch of roses with him and was trying to get her to go back to him, witnesses said. She had left him days earlier because he beat her, and she refused the roses, according to the report. He was escorted off the property by employees.
He returned just after midnight. She was standing in a smoking area behind the business with several employees. He grabbed her by the hair and began stabbing her, the witnesses said.
Two women jumped on his back, and a man retrieved a baseball bat from his car. They pulled the woman into the building, and the man with the bat struck Blancas on the head. Blancas fled before police arrived.
At about 10 a.m., a police sergeant spotted him drinking whiskey and Coke in a yard, police said. They arrested him on a charge of aggravated assault. He remained in city jail Friday afternoon.
Other reports
600 block of East Hickory Street — A man called police Thursday to report that he was the victim of fraud.
He said he met a man recently who said he was a model, according to a police report. He said he had a check for $450 from a modeling job but had no bank account and couldn’t cash it. He asked the victim to cash it for him through his account. The victim complied. A few days later, he asked him to do the same thing with a check for $3,000. Again, the victim deposited the check in his account, withdrew the cash and gave it to the new friend.
Recently, he learned the checks were no good, according to the report.
1800 block of U.S. Highway 156, Krum area — A sheriff’s deputy reported at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday that he was on patrol in the area of a rock dump and noticed a truck parked behind it. He was curious and asked the driver what he was doing. The driver said he was waiting for a friend who was going to give him some money.
About that time, another truck pulled behind the rocks. That driver said he was there to “hang out” with the first driver. That seemed a strange place to hang out, the deputy noted, so he talked to the second man more and the man admitted that he was there to pick something up from the first man. Both men were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
The officers found 2.5 grams of methamphetamine under the driver’s seat of the first man’s truck, the report states. They added drug charges for both men.
