Blotter: Police charge man with burglary, kidnapping
09:09 AM CDT on Saturday, October 3, 2009
Denton police found a man at his apartment and arrested him on charges of kidnapping and burglary to commit assault Thursday morning.
Officers responded to a call for help at about 11 a.m. A man said he was asleep in bed with his girlfriend when he was awakened by someone striking him in the face. The intruder kicked and stomped him and struck him repeatedly, he said.
The intruder then grabbed the woman and dragged her from the apartment, according to a police report.
Witnesses in the apartment said the intruder was the woman’s former husband. He broke into the apartment, they said, and snatched the woman, who was clad only in a robe.
The woman told police that her former husband awoke her by cursing and calling her names. He dragged her out to her vehicle and drove her to Corinth, she said. He pulled her out of the vehicle, stripped her of the robe and left her standing beside Interstate 35E, the report states.
She said a couple stopped and gave her a shirt to wear and called 911. They stayed with her until Corinth police officers arrived.
Denton officers went to the apartment where the man lives and took him into custody.
Other reports
Mayhill Road at Blagg Road — A man reported to police at about 1 a.m. Friday that he was carjacked.
He said he was driving a silver Toyota Camry and there was a dark-colored sport utility vehicle in front of him. They stopped at a stop sign, he said, and the driver exited the SUV, walked to his window and threatened him with a switchblade knife.
The armed man climbed behind the wheel of the Toyota and drove away, according to a police report. The victim did not see anyone else in the SUV, he said, but it also was driven from the scene.
10000 block of Eakin Cemetery Road, Justin area — A man told Denton County sheriff’s deputies that a road-rage incident Thursday resulted in another man threatening him with a gun at his home at about 5 p.m.
The victim said he was driving on State Highway 114 at about 3:30 p.m. and passed a man on a motorcycle. The rider immediately sped up, passed him and then wove among lanes ahead of him to stop him from passing again, he said.
At a stoplight, he pulled up next to the rider, who shouted at him that he had tried to run the motorcycle off the road. The victim denied that and drove away.
But the rider showed up at his house more than an hour later. He again accused the driver of trying to run him off the road.
The victim said he told the man repeatedly to get off his property and finally picked up a golf club, threatening to beat the man up.
The rider laughed and pulled a gun from his waistband, asking, “You’re going to do what?”
The man began walking back into his house, and the rider left. The victim has no idea how the man found out where he lives, he said.
