Blotter: Driver’s seizure the apparent cause of Pizza Inn crash
10:44 PM CST on Friday, November 27, 2009
A seizure appears to have caused a woman to drive into a pizza restaurant’s wall about 1:10 p.m. Friday.
Denton police Sgt. Tim Atchison said the woman’s Toyota Camry crashed through a wall of a Pizza Inn in the 500 block of West University Drive. Witnesses said the woman appeared to be having medical problems at the time.
A CareFlite helicopter was called but was canceled before arrival, Atchison said. The woman regained consciousness and talked to paramedics at the scene.
The woman suffered no injuries from the accident, and no one inside was injured, the sergeant said. The crash left a hole in the restaurant wall.
Other reports
500 block of Carroll Boulevard — A witness called police about 4:05 p.m. Tuesday to report she could see a man beating a woman in a parking lot. The man had left by the time officers arrived.
The woman said the man was her boyfriend. He was angry at his mother, she said, because the mother had not picked up his college schedule for him. He began cursing his mother and calling her profane names.
When the girlfriend told him he should not disrespect his mother, he grabbed her by the throat, pushed her up against a window and struck her several times with his fists, the victim said.
800 block of Oakland Street — A man told police that his former girlfriend struck him several times when he spilled milk Tuesday.
The man said she came to his apartment to pick up their 3-year-old daughter. She was aggravated while trying to get a child car seat through the apartment, he said. He had her car door open and was trying to put a lid on a cup of milk when she began backing up the car. He tried to avoid being struck by the door and dropped the cup.
She began cursing him, got out of the car and struck him several times, according to the police report.
