Local police offer new crime report service
Denton police have a new service up and running that allows residents to keep up with crime in their neighborhoods.
Officer Ryan Grelle said in a news release that the information is available at www.crimereports.com and is free.
The service provides easy-to-read maps that pinpoint crimes in the city. It also gives choices of receiving daily, weekly or monthly summaries of where crime has occurred near homes, places of work or schools, Grelle said.
Crime incident data is updated nightly and includes the type of incident, the location, the distance from the resident’s address, an event identification number and a brief description of the crime.
Crimereports.com provides law enforcement agencies with an affordable and easy Web-based service that lets them share crime data with the public. It is supported by the U.S. Department of Justice. More information is available on the Web site.
