Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion this morning after a four-alarm blaze at an apartment building in Lake Dallas.

400 block of Lake Way Drive, Lake Dallas

The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Lake Way Drive near Lewisville Lake, said Greg Ward, a driver with the Lake Cities Fire Department. The two Lake Cities firefighters were treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

About 70 firefighters from surrounding areas, including Flower Mound, Coppell and Denton, responded to the scene and crews rotated duties to try and prevent heat exhaustion, he said.

“Summertime fires are always hot,” Mr. Ward said. “Temperatures were down a bit from the storm, but it was still very hot.”

Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire.
