Blotter: Golf ball hits, shatters apartment window
09:02 AM CST on Monday, December 1, 2008
A golf ball hit the bedroom window of an apartment in the 3400 block of Joyce Lane overnight Saturday, according to police report.
The ball shattered the $200 window, although the screen covering the window was unharmed, said Denton police Sgt. Tim Atcheson.
Police are unsure if the ball was thrown or hit by someone, Atcheson said.
Other reports:
1300 block of Dallas Drive — The passenger side of a vehicle was broken into overnight Saturday outside an apartment building, even though the car’s alarm was set, Atcheson said. The car was ransacked, and about $200 worth of CDs were taken from the vehicle as well as the cord to a MP3 player, he said.
1200 block of Pine Oak Drive — The driver’s side window of a vehicle was smashed sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Atcheson said. A $170 Cobra radar detector was taken and the broken window is estimated to cost about $200 to replace, he said.
1500 block of South Loop 288 — A parked vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot was broken into Friday afternoon, after the window, which was lowered a few inches, was forced down, Atcheson said. The title of the vehicle and the insurance card were the only items reported stolen, he said.
