Lake Dallas: Mayor announces her resignation from post

Mayor Marjory Johnson, who had filed to retain her seat in the May 10 election, has announced she will resign her post May 22.
The announcement followed an executive session meeting Thursday night. Johnson had previously announced plans to move from Lake Dallas to Sanger.
The city will call a special election in November to replace her.
If any current council members file for the mayor’s seat, they automatically give up their council seat, according to the city charter.
But the city would not be required to fill that seat until the May 2009 election, when the mayor’s seat would be on the ballot again, this time to fill the unexpired term, City Secretary Beverly Weikum said.
