Donald B. Anthony
Donald B. Anthony, 73, of Sanger, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at his residence. He was born December 16, 1934 in Greenville, S.C., to Henry Bertran “Bert” Anthony and Gladys McWhorter Anthony. He graduated from Clemson A&M College and served in the U.S. Air Force as a highly decorated combat pilot during the Cold War. He had retired from American Airlines as Captain and attended Grace Bible Church in Sanger.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Sanger with the Rev. Phyllis McDougal officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Freeman, Jerry Haire, John Tulio, Art Baisley, David Arthur and Leroy Keese.
He is survived by Doris Arthur of Sanger; his children, Craig Donald Anthony and wife, D’Lene, of Keller, Michael L. Anthony and wife, Emma, of Corinth, Teresa Lyn Keese and husband, Darrell, of Brady, Patti J. Baisley and husband, Arthur, of Sapulpa, Okla., David Arthur and wife, Teresa, of Warrenton, Va., Douglas Arthur of Auburn, Wash., and Cheryl LaVon Collum and husband, Tim, of Fort Worth; sixteen grandchildren; and sister Cecil Ross of Greenville, S.C. He is preceded in death by sisters Vivian Karolyi and Hazel Wingard.

Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Dean
Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Dean, 65, of Denton, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth after her brave battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. She was born February 6, 1943 in Denton to Walter G. and Pearl (Jones) Nichol. She was a graduate of Denton High School. She was married to Willis Dean on May 12, 1975 in Denton. He passed away on August 12, 1998. She was retired from Texas Instruments after 30 years and was employed by General Telephone Co. and, most recently, as a receptionist with the Higginbotham Insurance Co.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton, with Rusty Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Belew Cemetery in Aubrey. The family was at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008.
She is survived by her mother, Pearl Nichol of Denton; daughters, Gayla Ford and husband, David, and son, Seth, and Jana Dean, all of Denton; stepdaughter, Teresa “Tootie” Bradford of Aubrey; and stepsons, Larry Dean and wife, Sherri, of Krugerville and Reese Dean and wife, DJ, of La Rue; brother, William “Butch” Nichol and wife Charlene “Puggie” of Denton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter G. Nichol, and husband, Willis E. Dean.

Polly Cavender Sherling
Polly Cavender Sherling, 83, of Denton, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Vintage. She was born April 2, 1925 in Paris, Texas, to Frank and Melissa (Lyle) Cavender. She was married to Raymond C. Sherling Sr. on July 12, 1947 in Denton. She attended public schools and is a member of the Unity Church of New Hope. She was a homemaker.
The family will be at the funeral home for visitation from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008, at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Drive, Denton. A memorial service will be later that day at 1 p.m. at the Unity Church of New Hope, 6071 New Hope Road, Krugerville. The church Web site is www.unityofnewhope.org, for directions.
Mrs. Sherling is survived by her son, Raymond Sherling Jr. (Randy) and his wife, Teresa, of Denton; a daughter-in-law, Verna Sherling of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, John Garner of Denton; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Randy Charles Snider
Randy Charles Snider, 54, of Denton, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Denton of natural causes. Randy was born February 22, 1954 in Denton to Gerald and Margaret (Selby) Snider. He was a gifted sculptor. He loved the Native American culture and, through his chosen medium of sandstone, sought to convey the dignity and heritage of the Plains Indian. He was known by many as “tepee man.”
Survivors include his cherished daughter and her husband of Denton; sisters Enid Shanahan of Paris and Sherrill Niederer of Argyle; and brothers Tim Snider of Argyle, Tony Snider of Wylie and Dr. Ron Snider of Danville, Ark. He is also survived by his two beautiful grandchildren; and mother, Margaret Snider, of Argyle.
An outdoor memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. on the grounds of The Country Abbey, 116 North Jackson, Justin, Texas. For map and directions, go to www.thecountryabbey.com.
