Sgt. 1st Class Justin S. Monschke, 28, of Krum, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 in Iraq.
Funeral Services are pending for the week of October 22nd. DeBerry Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
Jimmy Dale Adams
Jimmy Dale Adams, 65, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday morning, October 13, 2007 at the local hospital. Jimmy was born in Deemer, Mississippi, on February 5, 1942 to Roy Adams and Otazell Peebles. He married Helene Ottilie Loechel on May 10, 1975 and served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Helene Adams of Lewisville, Texas; daughters, Michelle Tharpe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Renate Adams of Rapid City, South Dakota; sons, Jimmy Adams, II of San Diego, California and Eric Adams of Denton, Texas; mother, Otazell Adams of Meridian, Mississippi; sisters, Cindy Brown of Meridian, Mississippi and Cecilia Bruce; brother, Harold Adams of Georgia and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Treitsch Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Joe Shafer officiating. Jimmy will be interred in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Joseph A. Bradshaw
Joseph A. Bradshaw, 79, of Garland, Texas formerly of Denton passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007 at his residence. Joseph was born February 1, 1928 in Portageville, MO to James and Alice Bradshaw. He attended Texas Business College where he earned his Associates Degree. He was a member of the Air Force and served in World War II. He was a past member of the Dallas Executive Association. Joseph was also a charter member of the Air Force Memorial.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 19, 2007 from 5 – 9 p.m. at Denton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Denton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Bill Ferguson will officiate.
Joseph is lovingly remembered by numerous nephews, nieces, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Bodkins, and Etter May Bryant; and two brothers, William Lee and James Loren Bradshaw.
Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Mary Nancy Edmundson
Mary Nancy Edmundson, 94, of Denton, died Monday October 15, 2007 at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Mrs. Edmundson was born on August 9, 1913 in Rice, TX to Willie B. and Hattie (McCrum) Swafford. She was married to Rufus B. Edmundson on August 1, 1936 in Corsicana, TX (he died on January 6, 1999). She was a member of Gateway United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Ernest Edmundson and his wife, Martha of Denton; granddaughter, Mary “Lisa” Elisabeth Hacker of Jonesboro, AR; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Swafford, Joe William Swafford, Samuel Burdell Swafford, Henry McCrum Swafford, and James Neilson Swafford.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday October 19, 2007 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in eastern Denton County. Visitation will be from 6 – 7 p.m. Thursday October 18, 2007 at the funeral home.
Helen Virginia Deiker
Helen Virginia Deiker, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Helen was born Nov. 7, 1924, to A.J. and Mary Lou (Lula) Haddix. She married Robert “Bob” W. Deiker, June 25, 1960.
Helen attended Texas Women’s University and Texas Christian University and received her Bachelor’s degree from TCU. She received her Master’s degree in Illinois after she was married. She and Bob lived in New York and then Illinois before they retired back to Texas. Helen taught high school math for many years and was also the head of the Special Education Department at Hinsdale High School in Hinsdale, Illinois. During retirement, Helen was very active in the TWU Alumni and was President of the Alumni Association for one year. She enjoyed her family and traveled extensively after retirement. She was dedicated to education.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy H. Wilkinson and husband, Kenneth of Denton; niece, Gayle W. Flippin and husband, John of Argyle; great-nephew, Shawn J. Dewett of Austin; great-niece, Amanda S. Cathey of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; stepsons, Robert W. Deiker Jr. of Minnesota and Tom Deiker and wife, Susan, of Des Moines, Iowa; stepdaughter, Betty Kramer and husband, Ray of Illinois; and numerous step grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Deiker; a sister, Martha Dobson; and her nephew, William Bryan Wilkinson.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Rhoda Ann Browder
Rhoda Ann Browder, 89, passed away Monday, October 1, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held on October 4, 2007 in Cole Chapel at the First United Methodist Church and burial followed at Duncan Cemetery in Duncan, OK.
Born September 24, 1918 to Robert O. and Elizabeth Emery Wieneke in Hartshorne, OK, Rhoda Ann would be the eldest of six children, two girls and four boys. She grew up in Hartshorne, graduated from high school in 1936 and moved to Oklahoma City to attend Hills Business University. In 1938 she met Jack H. Browder at a dance and swept him off his feet; they were married on May 7, 1939.
In 1941 Jack was called into the Army and Rhoda Ann moved around the country with him to numerous training bases. During WWII, when Jack was assigned overseas, she went home to Oklahoma to work. After the war, they lived for a while in Illinois and then settled back in Oklahoma.
Rhoda Ann and Jack had two children, Nancy in 1948 and Jack Jr. in 1951. In 1955 they moved their young family to Denton where Rhoda Ann would live for the next 52 years. She made a lovely home for her husband and children. She was a gardener and a great cook. She established lasting relationships with her wonderful neighbors and they became her extended family.
Rhoda Ann and Jack were members of the First United Methodist Church, which was very dear to her. She belonged to the Bungalow Sunday School Class and was a frequent traveler with the Trippers Club. In the church, she had many friends whose affection and support she appreciated, especially during her final years.
Rhoda Ann was an enthusiastic Dentonite during all of the 52 years she lived here. She and Jack enjoyed traveling in their later years, but they always said Denton was the very best place to live. She loved to attend performances at the Denton Community Theater and book reviews at the Woman’s Club. She made good friends in Denton and they were an important part of her life.
Rhoda Ann was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Browder; her son, Jack Browder, Jr.; and her brothers, Forrest John Wieneke, Robert Wieneke, Frank Wieneke and Joe Wieneke. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Browder; her sister, Jean Hollingsworth; her sisters-in-law, Pearl Renelt and Mrytle Wieneke; and her much loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rhoda Ann Browder will be dearly missed.

Walter Franklin Jeanes
Walter Franklin Jeanes, 70, of Plano, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007 in Richardson, Texas. Walter was born January 23, 1937, in Blue Ridge, Texas, to Charles L. and Ester (Smith) Jeanes. He married Mary Boyanton on August 30, 1957 in Denton.
Before retirement, Walter was the owner of a chemical blending company. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons. He and Mary loved to travel and spent a few months each year seeing this beautiful country. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Plano.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Darryl and his wife, Nancy of Canton, Texas, Kevin and his wife, JaKayla of Amarillo, Texas and David and his wife, Cindy of Plano, Texas; daughter, Lori Cronan and her husband, Wayne of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren, Shelbi, Brandon, Audrey, Haley, Blake, Ryan, and Ethan; and brother, John and his wife, Donna of Denton, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jack, Charles, and W.B.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Plano, Texas with Jerry Carlisle and Larry McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 evening from 7 – 9 p.m.

Nancy“Nan” K. Miller
Nancy “Nan” K. Miller passed away the evening of Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Arlington Memorial Hospital of complications from chemotherapy. She was 68 years old, in excellent health except for a recurrence of cancer. Nan was a fighter and was a proud cancer survivor of 20 years. She was convinced that her hospital stay would be a short one; just another minor hurdle on her path to wellness.
One son, Clint L. Miller, III, survives her. A memorial service will be held at the Satellite Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Arlington on 2001 Brown Blvd, in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at noon. A small reception will follow.
Flowers will be donated to retirement community residents and cancer patients after the service.
She was smiling, happy and feisty until the end. We admire her and are very proud of her.
Allie Mae Underwood
Allie Mae Underwood, 93, of Westminster, CO formerly of Pilot Point, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Clear Creek Care Center in Westminster, CO. She was born on August 7, 1914 in Tioga, TX to the late Lennie O. Bush and Jenny Shearon Bush. On June 2, 1938, she married Don Underwood in Pilot Point, TX. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1966. Mrs. Underwood was a retired school teacher after having taught for 33 years. She was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church in Westminster, CO and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point for many years.
She is survived by one son, Ron Underwood and wife, Dorothy of Westminster, Co; grandchildren, Fred and Leslie Agnew of Broomfield, CO and Craig and Lisa Denning of Loveland, CO; great-grandchildren, Haley, Isaac and Caleb Agnew; cousins, Pauline Duncan of Oakcliff, Ruby Fay Levy of Plano and Carol Sue Beck of Lake Kiowa; daughter-in-law, Maureen Underwood of Lakewood, CO; step grandchildren, Amy Geiler, Jenny Lathrop and Adam Breusch; stepgreat-grandchildren, Bobby Finn and Caroline Lathrop.
One son, Larry Underwood, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Huff Funeral Home Chapel in Pilot Point with the Rev. Luther Slay officiating. Burial will follow at Pilot Point Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, October 17, 2007 at Huff Funeral Home in Pilot Point.
