Fredrick Hoy Lee Billmeier, Sr

Fredrick Hoy Lee Billmeier, Sr., age 61, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in Little Elm.  He was born on December 23, 1947 in Whitewright, Texas to Oleta (Cummings) and Harley Billmeier.  On April 13, 1996, he married Rebecca Worsham in Lancaster, Texas. Fredrick worked for Westvaco Envelope for 31 years. He was in the Air Force and served in Vietnam.

Fredrick is survived by his wife, Rebecca Billmeier of Little Elm; children, Jr Billmeier of Dallas, Paula Genzel of Little Elm, Angela Utt and her husband, Richard of Little Elm, Susan Genzel of Lancaster, and Damian Logan of US Army, Virginia; several grandchildren; mother, Oleta Billmeier of Pilot Point; sister, Mildred King of Arlington; and brothers, Rudy Billmeier of Pilot Point and Eddie Billmeier of Arlington.

Fredrick is preceded in death by his father, Harley Billmeier.

A Graveside Service will be held at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco on Thursday, January 8, 2009 where the family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Dorothy Elizabeth Beard

Dorothy Elizabeth Beard, age 68, of Valley View, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Denton Regional Medical Center. She was born January 26, 1940 in Starkville, Mississippi to Benjamin Jackson and Corine (Blake) Watkins. She worked for Jostins in Denton until her retirement. She was a member of the Sand Hill Church of Christ in Gilmer, Texas.

She is survived by her sons, Henry Cain Inmon Jr. of Denton, and James Ellis of Denton; daughter, Kathy Lynn Weeks of Ore City, Texas; stepdaughter, Lori Lynn Johnson of Louisiana; sisters, Linda Johnson of Krum, Diann Malone of Valley View, and Carolyn Pennell of Denton; and partner, Ronnie DeVille

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son Chapel, 705 North Locust St. Denton, Texas 76201. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Denton. Bro. Lindley Hagler will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2009 at the funeral Home.

 

 

Sandra Lee Bennett

Sandra Lee Bennett, 45, of Gainesville, TX, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton, TX.  She was born February 13, 1963 in Altus, OK to Frank and Mary JoAnn Dunn Gibson.  She married Billy Darrell Bennett, Jr. on June 21, 1980 in Denton, TX.  She graduated from Denton High School and attended VTI. She was church secretary for First Assembly of God in Gainesville, TX.

A memorial  service will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 12 Noon at First Assembly of God Church in Gainesville, 2205 E. Hwy 82, Gainesville, TX.

She is survived by husband, Billy Darrell Bennett, Jr.; daughter, Marissa LeeAnn Bennett; son, Billy Darrell Bennett, III and wife, Brandy, and grandson, Logan; parents, Frank and JoAnn Gibson;  sisters, Gloria Jean Wright, Aleta Ann Sweatman; brother, Frank Leon Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.  She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Dunn and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Gibson; and uncles and aunts.

Sandy was a loving and caring person.  Her family and church were very dear to her.  She loved fishing, no matter where, especially Galveston, TX.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Education Fund for Marissa Bennett, c/o First Assembly of God Church in Gainesville, 2205 E. Hwy 82, Gainesville, TX 76240.

Glen E. Stone

Glen E. Stone, 77, of Denton, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Denton Regional Medical Center.  He was born January 14, 1931 in Krum to J.A. and Velma Maude Evans Stone.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He married Betty Marie Rainey, his school sweetheart, on April 27, 1951 in Denton.  He was a purchasing agent for Moore Business Forms for 37 years.

Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2009 from 6 – 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors.  Funeral service will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.  Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Stone of Denton; daughter, Vicki Lee Celotto and son-in-law, Patrick Celotto of Denton; brother, Dale Stone of Krum; one grandson, Jeremy K. Lee; sister-in-law, Judy Miller of Denton; two nephews, Ronny and Bobby Stone; niece, Delainie Stone Westwood-Booth; and cousin, Sandra Evans Husted. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bill Stone, and his border collie “Muffin”.

Glen had his own civic activity, helping others especially friends and neighbors on Woodland St., Robert, and Bell Ave.  He put their morning papers by the front doors, walked and cared for the dogs and cats and kept house keys to his neighbors.

Lyla R. Needles, age 75, of Denton passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Denton Regional Medical Center. She was born February 13, 1933 in Pleasant Valley, Texas to William and Nellie (Heffington) Rushing.  She married Allan Needles on April 18, 1952 in Marble Falls, Texas. She was a Sales Person in the clothing Industry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband Allan of 56 years, daughter Kellye Church and son-in-law Don of Pilot Point, son Allan Needles II and daughter-in-law Lynn of Arlington, Texas, and grandchildren Matthew and Marissa Needles and Amanda and Jordan Church.

Funeral service will be 6 pm Friday January 9, 2009 at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz Son Chapel, 705 North Locust St., Denton, Texas 76201. Rev. Jim Terry will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 6 PM, prior to the service.

Graveside service will be 2 pm Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Smithwick Cemetery, Smithwick, Texas. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local animal rescue of choice.

 

 

Austin Granville Baker IV

Austin Granville Baker IV, 26, of Denton passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He was born May 26, 1982 in Denton to Austin Granville Baker III and Sherrie Mays Baker. He was a manager for Austin Baker Industries in Fort Worth.

Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2009 from 6 – 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 1 p.m. in Cross Timbers Community Church in Argyle. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

He is survived by his parents, Austin Baker III and wife Sherrie of Denton; brothers, Aaron Baker and Abel Baker, both of Denton; grandparents, Austin G. Baker, Jr. and wife Nancy of Denton, JoeAnn McIntire of Denton, Shirley Mays of Highland Village; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Mays.

Loy L. Cavett

Loy L. Cavett, 60, of Denton, Texas passed away Monday, January 5, 2009.

He was born November 1, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma to Dale and  Alta Waldhyne Cavett. He graduated from Mustang High School in Mustang, Oklahoma in 1967 and graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma in December 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Loy joined the U.S. Marines Corps and honorably served 3 years of active duty, followed by 3 years of inactive duty.

On May 20, 1972 he married Barbara Ann Payne. Loy left the Marine Corps as a Captain, and he and Barbara moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to raise a family. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville after 28 years of employment. Loy earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1996. He and Barbara moved to Denton, Texas in 2005 to be closer to family.

Loy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara of Denton; his brother, Kirby and wife Debbie of Des Moines, Iowa; his children Chris and wife Sonja of Greenville, TX and Shana and husband Matthew Krakowiecki of Denver, Colorado; and his three grandchildren Andrew Cavett, Elizabeth Cavett and Kate Krakowiecki. Loy served the Lord steadfastly and was a faithful witness until called home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse with Dr. Ben Husted officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Loy’s memory to Mayo Clinic, MSA Disease Research, 200 1st Street S.W., Rochester, MN 55905.

Margaret Atkinson Jarvis Knight

Margaret Atkinson Jarvis Knight, age 93 of Denton, left to receive her angel wings from her heavenly Father on January 4, 2009. She was a very loving and most giving Mother and Grandmother. She was born September 29, 1915 in Norfolk, Virginia to Robert and Ida (Gregory) Atkinson.

In years passed Margaret was a member of the Elisabeth Chapter of the Eastern Star in Norfolk, Virginia. Deaconess of her church and an adult Sunday School Teacher. President of the W.M.U. and was active in all phases of her church. Past President of the Richmond Woman’s Club, past officer of her state district and past Parliamentarian in the state. She gave a lot of her time and talents to the Red Cross and worked at the children’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She was also past member of the Fredericksburg Woman’s Club.

Her love for all kinds of handwork showed in her knitting and needlepoint. She loved playing Bridge and being with her friends.

Margaret is survived by a brother Robert E. Atkinson of Norfolk, Va. Son William E. Jarvis, Sr. of Richmond, Va. Daughter Gwendolyn K. Watts of Justin, Texas. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Robert H. Jarvis and F. Welford Knight to whom she was married for 51 years.

Private services will be held in Afton Mountain, Virginia at a later date.
