John William Strnad, III, "Bubba", 21 years old, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2008. He was born in Irving Texas on February 26, 1986. He grew up in Denton, Texas where he had attended school from kindergarten to twelfth grade. All through school he had a passion for helping other people. He had a love for the Arts; he enjoyed web design, music, animation, and anything unique and creative. He graduated from Denton High School in 2004 where his main concentration was helping in web design and even helped begin the Denton High School fillies webpage. He had many teachers that inspired him along the way there and gave him his passion for the Arts and History.
After high school, John attended North Central Texas College where he focused on web design.
Graveside services were held on Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, Texas. Dr. E. L. McNeal officiated.
He is survived by a large group of friends, which he has had through even early childhood. John was unique in the sense that he was very loving and accepting of all walks of life. One of John's greatest attributes was his ability to see the good in others and he never spoke unkindly of anyone. Some of his happiest moments were being surrounded by his friends and family members.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian Grooms; grandmother, Lillian Gatlin; brother, Terry Forrest and wife, Tiffany Forrest; sister, Samantha Grooms; niece, Apryl Forrest; nephew, Keaton Creekmore; and his loyal dog, Bootie.
Coker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jimmie Lee Holland
Jimmie Lee Holland, 83, of Decatur, formerly of Denton, passed away Sunday morning, January 27, 2008, at home. She was born in Cooper, TX to Eunice and Nita Inez Perry Powell. She attended Cooper and Azle public schools and graduated from UNT.
She married M.B. Holland on Dec. 26, 1965 in Denton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2002. She taught school in Azle and Boyd and was the fashion director for Montgomery Ward at North Town Mall and in Denton.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denton and attended Grace Baptist Church in Decatur. She was active with Meal on Wheels and the Methodist Ladies Quilting Group.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, from 6 – 8 p.m. for visitation. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Dr. Bill Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Bartlett of Decatur; son, Glen McWhorter of Dickinson; grandchildren, Hugh Fourque of Bellair, Chris and Laura Noble of Decatur, Johnnie Smith of Norfolk VA and Bekki Cortez of Carrollton; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Meal on Wheals.
Mary Lee Brazil Robbins
Mary Lee Brazil Robbins, age 83, of Sanger, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Denton, Texas. She was born on July 2, 1924 in Grand Parish, Louisiana to George Franklin and Lula Belle (Delaney) Brazil. In 1945, she married Bobbie Joe Robbins in Louisiana. She was a member of the Kingsville Baptist Church. She was employed by Beasley's Jewelry in Lewisville for 20 years.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hudson of Sanger; two granddaughters, Deana Wesley and husband, Chris and Robbie Meeks and husband, Scott of Sanger; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Caitie Wesley and MaKynna Meeks of Sanger; and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Joe who passed away on January 18, 1970; and ten brothers and sister.

Gertrude Louise Lubbers
Pilot Point - Gertrude Louise Lubbers, 95, of Pilot Point, passed away Sunday January 27, 2008 at the Pilot Point Care Center. She was born January 21, 1913 in Pilot Point to William and Frances Blumberg Boerner. She married William John Lubbers on November 10, 1936. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1998. She was a nurse’s aid, being the first aid hired when Sundial Nursing Home was built. She was a member of St Thomas Catholic Church and the St Thomas Alter Society.
A funeral service will be Thursday, January 31, at 10:00 a.m. at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Pilot Point. Father James Flynn will officiate. Burial will follow at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery. Vigil and visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Huff/Slay Funeral Home.
She is survived by one daughter, Imelda Looper and husband, Larry of Krugerville; two sons, Ken Lubber and wife, Wanda of South Haven, MS and Mark Lubbers and wife, Renate of Garland; one sister, Rita Lubbers of McKinney; nine grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Huff/Slay Funeral Home, Pilot Point, TX
Thelma Louise Caudle
Thelma Louise Caudle was born January 25, 1917 at Hammon, Oklahoma and passed from this life, at the age of 91, on Saturday, January 26, 2008. She married Woodrow W. Caudle at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on October 29, 1938. He preceded her in death. She was member of Denton Church of Christ and attended regularly until her failing heath prevented her from doing so. She lived most of her life at Maud, Oklahoma. After the passing of her husband in June 1966, she moved to Elk City, Oklahoma, to be closer to her parents and other family and later moved to Denton in 1993. She was a homemaker in the years preceding her husband's death and afterwards, she worked in retail sales until she retired to care for her elderly parents. She enjoyed poetry and wrote poetry also. Her top priority in life was her faith in God and her family. Her hobbies were crossword puzzles and word search and games that improved your mind.
She is survived by her daughters, Florence Hall and Iris Caudle of Denton; sons, Carroll Caudle of Amarillo, Kenneth R. Caudle of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Dennis Caudle of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Woodrow Caudle of Elkhart, Texas; sisters, Ruth Spradley of Chowchilla, CA, Edith Weaver and Erma Sowders of Elk City, OK; brother, Kenneth Farni of Dumas, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; mother, Mildred Farni; father, Joe Farni; twin sister, Velma Caudle; sister, Jean Johnson; and brother, Alvin Farni.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in the DeBerry Funeral Chapel, with viewing prior to the service. Terry Collins and Evangelist Mac Deaver will officiate. Graveside will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Collins Cemetery in St. Louis, Oklahoma.
