Doyl Lorenza Young
Doyl Lorenza Young, age 71, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 in Justin, TX.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2008 from 7 – 8 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Solomon Hill Baptist church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Burial will immediately follow funeral service at Solomon Hill Cemetery.
Eva Drennan Sanford
Eva Drennan Sanford, 97, of Sumrall, MS., passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Oxford Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Sanford was co-owner of Sanford Cash & Carry Grocery of Bassfield, MS for over 30 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sumrall.
She is survived by her two sons, Barney Lee Sanford of Cypress, TX and Billy W. Sanford of Denton, TX; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her parents; her husband, Doyle W. Sanford; and brother, Ira “Jack” Drennan precede her in death.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Sumrall. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Hulett-Winstead Sumrall Chapel.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Sumrall.
Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS is in charge of arrangements.
Roy L. Bruce
Roy L. Bruce, 93, of Denton, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at his home. He was born July 29, 1914 in Denton County, Mustang Community to Thomas J. and Mary A. Burchett Bruce. He attended Springhill School and was a Baptist. He married Thelma A. Miller on September 11, 1937. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2000. He was retired from maintenance work at T.W.U.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 5 - 7 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Robert Heidler officiating. Burial will follow at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.
Mr. Bruce is survived by stepdaughter, Joyce O'Grady of Smithville; and daughter-in-law, Joanne Bruce of Denton; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and twelve great great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Miller Bruce; one sister; and four brothers.
Irv Kurhan
Irv Kurhan, a devoted husband, loving father and most gracious Poppa passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Born on October 3, 1927 in West Haven, CT.
He is predeceased by his mother, Pauline; father, Jacob; and sister, Arlene (Betty) Freeman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy Hall Kurhan; his sons, Scott Hall Kurhan of Chesapeake, VA and Jeffrey Hall Kurhan and wife, Shari Kurhan of Flower Mound, TX; favorite and most adored grandson, Michael Jeffrey Kurhan. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Shirley Stewart of Corinth TX; niece, Lynne Hall of Baltimore MD; brother-in-law, Daniel A. Freeman of Branford, CT.
He was loved and admired by all who knew him. An excellent role model; Poppa provided inspiration, wisdom, and guidance for those in need. His great sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Irv attended the University of New Haven, CT. Served in the U.S. Navy overseas during World War II and Korean War and received an honorable discharge. Employed for 24 years at American Airlines where he retired as Manager of Flight Services.
He and his wife moved to Corinth Texas in 1996.
His favorite hobby was Amateur Radio and was a member of the ARRL and the local DCARA.
We would like to thank Marilyn and Alton Ginn and their wonderful grandchildren for the care and support they have provided to our family and especially Ms. Casey.
Visitation for the family will be at Denton Funeral Home located at 120 S. Carroll Blvd. Denton, TX, Friday, March 7, 2008 from 10 -11:30 a.m.
Reina Mae Tyler
Reina Mae Tyler, 61, of Elmore City, OK, formerly of Denton passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Norman OK. She was born February 1, 1947 in Denton to Giles and Eileen Strader Goin. She married Bill Tyler in San Jose, CA on November 6, 1964.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Blue Mound United Methodist Church with Dr. Jon Eckstein officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Tyler of Elmore City; daughters, Donna Corder, Lacey Mae Tyler and Cheryl R. Tyler, all of Elmore City; sons, Glenn Tyler of Denton and Eric Tyler of New Hampshire; and seven grandchildren. Her parents precede her in death.
Carl L. Gentry
Carl L. Gentry, 73, of Denton, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born January 23, 1935 in Denton to J. D. and Irene (Powell) Gentry. He was a graduate of Denton High School, and served in National Guard and the U. S. Army. Carl owned his own Air Conditioning Business in San Benito for many years, and worked many years for the San Benito School District. He was active in Boy Scout leadership, and an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Since retirement he has been a member at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in The St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak, Denton, with Rev. Steve Plunkett officiating.

Mr. Gentry is survived by two daughters, Leslie Whittemore and David of Washington, DC and Yvonne Sandoval and Victor of Weslaco, TX; son, Bobby Gentry and Laura of Denton; three sisters, Dorothy Braly, Catherine Mitchell and Mae Scoggins, all of Denton; one brother, Bob Gentry of Marble Falls, TX; and six grandchildren, Christina Whittemore, Katherine Whittemore, Bobby Gentry, Westin Gentry, Tate Gentry and Elizabeth Sandoval. His parents; brothers, Hugh Gentry and Jack Gentry; and a sister, Margie Lynn Chance, preceded him in death.

Eleanor E. Fecher
Eleanor E. (Telekas) Fecher, 90, widow of Richard C. Fecher, of the Upper Perkiomen Manor, Red Hill and formerly of Berwick, PA, passed away early Saturday morning, March 1, 2008 at Pennsburg Manor Nursing Home after an illness. Born in Berwick, PA, she was a daughter of the late Steven and Elizabeth (Gurko) Telekas.
She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great- grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Stevonn E., wife of William Krueger of Shady Shores, TX and Richarda L. “Ricki”, wife of Edward W. Krug of East Greenville, PA; four grandchildren, Kimberly Krug, Casey Krueger, wife of Ethan Jones, Christopher and his wife, Amanda (Moll) Krug and Kyle Krueger; and two great-grandchildren, Eliot Jones and Jake Krug. Along with her husband and parents, a brother, Steven Telekas, Jr, predeceases her.
A graveside memorial service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Ann’s Haven VNA.
