Lena J. (Tina) Chapin,
Lena J. (Tina) Chapin, 52, of Arlington, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008. She was born June 13, 1955 in Sanger to Aubrey and Dessie (Quisenberry) Chapin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 6 – 7 p.m. at Denton Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Greenvally Cemetery in Denton.
Survivors include sisters, Audrey George of Decatur and Claudine Brown of Alvord, TX; brothers, Troy Chapin of Denison, TX and Leslie Chapin of West Point,
IL; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Thomas Harold Scripture
Thomas Harold Scripture, age 88, of Aubrey, passed away Monday March 31, 2008 at Senior Care Center of Denton. He was born April 3, 1919 in Plain Dealing, LA. to Charlie Field and Addie ( DeMoss ) Scripture. He married Tava Jean Hardin on April 7, 1979 in Denton, Texas. He was the Asst. Plant Engineer for the Denton State School, member of the First Baptist Church Denton and a WWII Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Tava of Aubrey; daughter, Kerra Scripture Rigler of Denton; sister, Charline Rodgers of Denton; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Mulkey-Mason Chapel. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton. Dr. Jeff Williams will be officiating the service. Visitation will be 6 - 7 p.m., Wednesday April 2, 2008 at the funeral Home. Pallbears will be Les Wilson, Joey Wilson, Steve Rigler, Manuel Ramirez, Hugo Flores and Wayne Calvert.

Donna Keene
Donna Keene, age 84, of Denton passed away at the Care Inn of Sanger on Sunday, March 30, 2008. She was born November 4, 1923 in Enid, Oklahoma to Lloyd and Florence (Whitney) Mann. She married Forrest Mathew Keene March 9, 1946 in Pratt, Kansas.
She was a loving wife, mother, and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest of Sanger; daughter, Rae Hogan of Oklahoma City, OK; son, James Keene of Dallas; sister, Lenis Drchschler of Tulsa, OK; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerald Mann in April 2008.
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Mulkey-Mason Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, from 9 - 11 a.m., before the service.

Clifford James (Jim) Stroud
Clifford James (Jim) Stroud, 77, of Sanger passed away Monday, March 31, 2008. He was born September 18, 1930 in Denton to Clifford and Bertha Kindred Stroud. He was a graduate of Denton High School and attended North Texas State College. He served in the U.S. Army and later joined the Air National Guard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pilot Point, TX. He worked for Ling Tempco Vought in Grand Prairie for several years and late as a security guard.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton.
Survivors include two sons, James Stroud of Aubrey and Michael Stroud of Denton; and two granddaughters, Rachel Stroud of Aubrey and Megan Argo of Ponder. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Kindred Stroud; and grandparents, John and Sarah Sarenda (Robberson) Stroud and Granville L. and Mary
Josephine (Koiner) Kindred Jr., with all four grandparents coming to Denton and Denton County in the early 1870’s.
Services are under the Direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Kathryn Janice Nowick
Kathryn Janice Nowick, 90, passed away Sunday, March 23, in Denver, Colo. She was born September 14, 1917, in Woodward, Okla., to C.R. and E.M. Bleckley. She married Lt. Col. Joe Nowick August 10, 1940. He preceded her in death October 22, 1983.
Her gentle, intelligent and playful spirit will be missed by her six children, Kenneth Nowick and Pamela Keener of Denver, Charles Nowick of Lafayette, Colo., Margaret Wells of Westminster, Colo., Jo Anne Oliver of Denton, Texas and Nancy Nowick-Kauk of Auburn, Kan.; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren also survive her.
Visitation was March 30, 2008 at Drinkwine Family Mortuary, 999 W. Littleton Blvd., Littleton, Colo. Services were held March 31, 2008 at Drinkwine.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bill W. Causey
Bill W. Causey passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born November 26, 1939 in Roanoke to Lonnie Joe Causey and Clara Wheeler Causey. He attended Northwest High School. Bill married Norma J. Oliver in Denton. He was an avid golfer in Denton playing in many tournaments.
He was employed at Moore Business Forms for many years before he retired from Boeing Electronics in Corinth.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Dr. Jeff Williams officiating.
Bill is survived by his wife, Norma of Denton; daughter, Cyndi and husband, Mike Oringderff; grandchildren, Ryan and wife, Amanda Oringderff and Lindsey Oringderff; great-granddaughter, Hanna Oringderff; uncles, O.W. and Ray Wheeler of Roanoke.

Bubba Joiner
Lifelong Texan, “Coach” Robert Charles (Bubba) Joiner , passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. His adoring and cherished wife of 35 years, 1 month and 19 days, was by his side, along with family and close friends.
Bubba was born in Houston December 13, 1943. After graduating from Southwest Texas State College with a B.S. degree in Education, he coached at many schools in the Austin area. He ended his coaching career in Argyle, Texas at Liberty Christian School, where his track team won the state championship. Peer coaches presented him with a championship ring that was among his most treasured possessions. Throughout his coaching career he was most proud of his athletes whose characters he helped shape as he developed their athletic abilities.
He became a man of deep faith in God; he was a trustee and a Community Group Pastor of the Fellowship of the Parks. His faith gave him strength in facing his illness, which he told his family he viewed as a “win-win” situation; he would either continue to be with his family or he would be with God. He was dearly loved, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Kandice and husband, Joe Mulry, Tamara and husband, Edwin Kincaid, Sandi and husband, Steve Smith, Lance Joiner and wife, Melinda and Derek Joiner; guardian son, Tyson Ard; grandchildren, Mason and Grace Mulry, Dalton and Hunter Kincaid, Sydni and Stuart Smith and Robby Joiner; father, Bob Joiner and wife, Amaryllis; brother, Mike Joiner, Sr. and wife, Pearl; brother, Bob Joiner and wife, Lori; and sister, Kim and husband, Andy Rodriguez. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Florence Joiner; and brother, Tim Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, Pflugerville, where the funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008. A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Fellowship of the Parks, Keller, Texas.

Ivan Noel Glasscock
Ivan Noel Glasscock, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2008 at his home in Denton. He was an extraordinary person, serving both his country as a Lt. Colonel and decorated pilot in the US Air Force, and his students as principal of Denton High School from 1976 to 1984.
Born in Holiday, Missouri on April 13th, 1920, Ivan was the third son of eight children of Frank and Glenn Glasscock. He joined the Army Air Corps in December 1941 and served in WWII flying both European and North African Campaigns. He flew in the Berlin Airlift, evacuated military and civilians during the Korean War, and was stationed in Tokyo with his family during the Cold War. His final post was in California where he commanded the 13th Air Medical Evacuation Squadron at Travis AFB.
Following his Air Force retirement he received both his BA and Masters from University of North Texas, which he utilized over a 20-year career with Denton Public Schools, retiring in 1984. His academic career brought him tremendous joy, as he loved to see his former students grow and develop in their lives.
Ivan did not ever retire from public service. He is recognized and loved by many as a community leader in Denton, serving the Boy Scouts of America, the Rotary Club, as a “Paul Harris Fellow”, the Denton Planning Commission, United Way, and the Denton Teachers Credit Union, finance committee. In 2006, he received the Congressional Veterans Commendation Award, and was an active and respected member of the Air Force Association where he spoke frequently on military history at the college level. Ivan had a special zest for life and love of people that fueled a successful late in life real estate career at the Vanderlaan firm, where he was active until his death. Ivan’s hobby was golf, which he played with treasured friends and his beloved son David at Denton Country Club.
He considered himself blessed by everyone who crossed his path, turning most acquaintances into friends and delighting children with the twinkle in his eye. Ivan gave and received great comfort from his Pastor’s Class group at the First Baptist Church of Denton, where he was an active member. Ivan’s greatest passion in life was his family, where he shared all of himself as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Ivan was preceded in death by his wife Gerry in 1992; and later married Nancy Smith Glasscock. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Denton; son, David and his wife, Jennifer of Dallas; and grandchild, Katie Grace; stepdaughter, Kellye Earhart of Sanger TX and her children, Jessica and Austin; stepson, James and his wife, Stacy Spruill of Ratliff, OK and children, Amber, Heather, Jennifer, Christopher and Hunter; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Overman of Kansas City and Nancy Baker of Albuquerque.
Visitation will be at the Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, Tuesday evening, April 1, 2008 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., located at 705 N. Locust Street in Denton. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St. Denton, TX, senior pastor Jeff Williams presiding, with military graveside services immediately following at Little Elm Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Denton, TX or Ivan Glasscock Education Scholarship Fund at Denton Area Teacher Credit Union, 225 W. Mulberry St., Denton, TX 76201, in memory of Ivan.
