John Tex “J. T.” Rockafellow
John Tex “J. T.” Rockafellow, 5, of Krum, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2008.
He was born on August 14, 2002 in Denton, Texas to John Travis and Valeria Kaye (Colston) Rockafellow. He was a kindergarten student at Krum Elementary School in Krum, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Pilgrims Way Baptist Church in Sanger. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Coker Funeral Home, 403 Pecan Street, Sanger, Texas.
Survivors include his parents of Krum; one sister, Kristen St. John of Krum; one brother, Miles Griffin of Pilot Point; maternal grandparents, Holman and Pat Colston of Sanger and Carl and Joye Green of Rhome; paternal grandparents, John and Carrie Rockafellow of Krum; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
Rev. Phillip Maxwell Smith
Rev. Phillip Maxwell Smith, 66, of Brownwood, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008 in Denton. He was born May 30, 1941 to Palmer and Lula Maye (Rice) Smith in Longmont CO. He married Mary Smith on December 15, 1960 in Amarillo. He was a member of the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam. Mr. Smith attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO. He has been a pastor at the 1st Church of Nazarene for 35 years. He was the former pastor of the Church of Nazarene in Denton, Gainesville, as well as places in New Mexico, and Arizona. He is the current pastor for the 1st Church of Nazarene in Brownwood, TX. Mr. Smith loved to preach, and play golf. He loved his family and was a loving husband to his wife of 47 years. He was also the number one fan of her music.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Denton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Denton Funeral Home Chapel with burial at DFW National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Dr. Duane Srader will officiate.
Survivors include, his loving wife; daughter, Gwen Boykin and husband, Tony of Denton; son, Alan Smith and wife, Janice of Denton; sister, Sharon Smith of Mansfield; brothers, Larry Smith of Gainesville and John Smith of Denton; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Vance Smith.
Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Mary H. Mulkey
Mary H. Mulkey, 71, of Denton, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at her home. She was born January 11, 1937 in Falls County Texas to George W. and Mary L. (Powers) Lyon. She was a graduate of the Bremond Public Schools, and received her Bachelor’s and Masters of Education from the University of North Texas. She was married to W. Dean Mulkey on October 10, 1958 in Denton. She is a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Rebekah Lodge. She was retired from the Denton Independent School District after she taught for thirty years. She then worked as the Secretary for the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville for several years.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jeff Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, for visitation from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. .
Mrs. Mulkey is survived by her husband, Dean Mulkey of Denton; sons and daughters-in-law, R. Craig and Sharon Mulkey of Lewisville and Scott and Trinda Mulkey of Justin; and son-in-law, Danny Thompson of Denton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Bobbie Lyon of Bremond and Cecil and Beth Lyon of Kosse; sisters-in-law, Donna Lyon of Upland, CA and Marion Lyon of Kosse; grandchildren, Jennifer Mulkey, Kristi Hicks, Chad Mulkey and Mellanie Mulkey, all of Lewisville, Brandy Thompson of Denton and Taylor and Bre’Anne Mulkey of Justin; great-grandchildren, Haley and Hayden. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deana Kay Thompson; her parents; and two brothers, George W. Lyon and Bill Lyon.

Mildred S. Zichner
Mildred S. Zichner, 97, of Fort Worth, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She is the mother of Jane Hopkins of Denton.
Arrangements are pending with Thompson, Harveson and Cole Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
