Evelyn Ruthel Bankhead Hard
Evelyn Ruthel Bankhead Hard, 84, of Sanger, formerly of San Angelo, passed from this life into the open arms of Jesus and her family on Monday, May 19, 2008, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 208 at the First Baptist Church, Sanger. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Champion Baptist Church, Roscoe, Texas. Burial will follow at Champion Cemetery.

Ronald Lee Ryan
Ronald Lee Ryan, 66, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008. Ronald was born June 27, 1941 in Independence, MO to Noah and Rebecca Ryan. He loved fishing, was an Army veteran and was the easiest going guy you would ever meet. Ronald always had a joke and a song on his lips. With help from AA Ronald embraced his 20 years of sobriety. He loved his granddogs, Ozzie and Abbey.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Friday, May 23, 2008 with visitation from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, MO.
His parents, Dwight and Rebecca; and his grandma Ward preceded Ronald in death.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Ryan and wife, Kathy, Mike Ryan and Debbie Streit; grandchildren, Brendon Ryan, Jacob Ryan, Zachary Ryan, David Arnold, Tyler Streit, Monica Vallenavedo, Nolan and Ashley Marion; great-grandchild, Steven Vallenavedo.

Roy Lee Herring,
Roy Lee Herring, 89, a resident of Denton, passed into eternal life on Monday, May 19, 2008. Roy was born in Krum to Herbert and Bessie Mae Herring and spent most of his life in and around the Krum area. He attended Plainview school and graduated from North Texas State University. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a proud veteran for his entire life. He retired from the Governmental Service Agency in 1981. He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church, Krum Lions Club, The American Legion and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels program in Krum, Krum Public Library and Ann’s Haven Hospice. Roy was a gentle, quiet man who enjoyed history, reading his bible and family gatherings.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 6 – 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Herring of Denton; sons, Roy McGee of Oklahoma City and Lonny McGee and wife, Terri of Argyle; daughter, Margaret Ann Crawford and husband, Bill of Krum; and sister, Gladys Jones of Conroe. He was loved by his extended family including numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; son, H.L. Herring; five sisters; and one brother.
Memorials may be made to Plainview Baptist Church, Krum Public Library or Krum Jackson Cemetery.
John Rolan Downey
John Rolan Downey, 54, of Denton, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Regency Hospital in Carrollton. He was born June 27, 1953 and grew up in Denton with his parents, Allie Mae Downey and Frank Squires. He married Patricia Darlene Bynum on November 25, 1969 in Denton. He had retired from TWU as a custodian.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 7 - 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Dolan Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Downey of Denton; daughter, Patricia JoAnn Downey of Denton; sisters, Agatha Howard of Junction City, KS and Regina Deal of Denton; and brother, Bruce Squires of Denton. A grandchild, Angela, preceded him in death.
Kevin Thomas Cochran
Kevin Thomas Cochran, age 38, and a resident of Corinth, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2008. Kevin was born April 19, 1970 in Edina, Minnesota to Thomas and Polly Cochran.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Gailley; three sons, Triston, Rennon and Lughie Cochran; a sister, Ginger “Angela” Drake; two brothers, Craig Cochran and wife, Tery and Joseph Cochran and wife, Kendall; his parents, Thomas and Polly Cochran; and grandmothers, Lauretta “Bunny” Cochran and Ardis Ellis; as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kevin was 1988 graduate of Mansfield High School and was continuing his College Education. He was a member of the Greater Lewisville Association of Realtors, the Lake Cities and Denton Chambers of Commerce and was employed by Freedom Title of Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Trust Account at Northstar Bank in Lake Dallas.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Dalton & Son Funeral Home in Lewisville. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lake Cities Baptist Church in Lake Dallas with Pastor Homer Walkup officiating.

David Huff
David Huff, age 46, was husband to Eleni Christina Xeros and father to Elias (17) and Alysia (14) Huff. David, a 20 year Denton resident, was a Denton Rural Route Postal Carrier for the past 10 years and a former manager of two local restaurants; The Greenhouse and the Prairie House.
David passed away at his residence, May 16, 2008. David was born in San Diego, California, August 20, 1961. He is survived by his wife and children; and by his parents, Clifford and Marilyn Huff of Carrollton; brothers, Donald Huff of Lewisville, Steven Huff of Folsom, CA and Dennis Huff of Williamsport, PA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with burial following at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Hamilton C. Moffett
Hamilton C. Moffett, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 in Denton, TX. He was born June 8, 1922 in Dallas to Clarence C. and Margaret Ethel (Hamilton) Moffett. He lived on his family’s farm in Lancaster. Hamilton graduated from A& M College of Texas (Texas A&M) in 1943. He completed OCS at Ft. Benning, GA, served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and platoon leader with the 30th Infantry Division in France, received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart during World War II. He had a strong love for his country and was a true patriot.
He married Foy Kate Walton on February 11, 1949 in Dallas. They lived on the family home place in Lancaster. Hamilton was employed by Mobil Oil Corp. for 37 years. He was a gentleman who exhibited integrity and honesty in his dealings with others.
Survived by wife, Foy; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jo Moffett; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Steve Barns; grandchildren, Laura Hinckley, LeAnne Moffett, Resa Barns, Matthew Moffett, William Barns, Diana Barns and Greg Barnes; brother and sister-in-law, Carlton and Nancy Moffett; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, May 21, 2008, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Byrum Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Lancaster. Interment with military honors at Edgewood Cemetery.
