Dr. Robert Minturn Lockwood III

Dr. Robert Minturn Lockwood III

Dr. Robert Minturn Lockwood III passed away on May 19, 2010 at Denton Presbyterian Hospital. Known as “Doc Lock” to his employees, friends, and patients, he served the community for 52 years in the practice of radiology. He was a loving father of three children.

Robert was born August 28, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Harvard and later graduated from University of Pennsylvania Medical School. In 1956, he came to Denton, and went on to co-found the Family Radiology clinic on Scripture Street. A scholar at heart, Robert loved music, language, and the arts.He was an avid reader, fossil collector, gardener, birdwatcher, poet and playwright. His jolly personality and excellent sense of humor were beloved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean & Esther, and his first wife, Ann. After Ann’s death, he was instrumental in establishing Ann’s Haven Hospice, and served for many years at its medical director.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Ben Lockwood, Millie Lockwood, Rachel Cross and her husband John; and his granddaughter, Anna Morshedi and her husband Grant.

A funeral service will be held on May 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Following the service, there will be a memorial gathering in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made to Ann’s Haven.

 

 

Betty Lorine (Redfearn) Jenkins

Betty Lorine (Redfearn) Jenkins, 75 of Pilot Point, formerly of Joshua passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Countryside Nursing and Rehab in Pilot Point. She was born on May 21, 1935 in Aubrey to Deck and Vernie (Hendrick) Redfearn.On June 5, 1952 she married Billy Gene Jenkins in Aubrey. She attended schools in Spring Hill, Aubrey and Pilot Point.S he was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for many years and Aubrey First Baptist Church, where she was pianist for many years since age 14.She was presently a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Cleburne.

She is survived by six daughters, Jeanie Jenkins of Pilot Point, Dr. Jackie Jenkins of Pilot Point, Sherry Dunn of Burleson, Gwyn Davis of Pilot Point, Teresa Brooks of Joshua, and Lowaine Marks of Grand Junction, CO, and one son, Billy Jenkins of North Richland Hills.She is also survived by four brothers, Howard Redfearn, Bobby Redfearn, Dale Redfearn, Joe Redfearn and one beloved sister, Ruth Doherty, all of Aubrey, as well as 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Billy Gene Jenkins, two brothers, Thurman Doyle Redfearn and Glen Redfearn and one grandson, Jason Rattan.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Krugerville with Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating, burial will follow at Belew Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 6 -8 p.m. at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Rattan, Jay Robert Russell, Jake West, Tommy Redfearn, Paul Redfearn, Jeff Redfearn and Harvey Redfearn and honorary pallbearer will be Joe West.

Frederick Warren Teves

Frederick Warren Teves

Fred W. Teves of Aubrey, Texas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in Denton, Texas on May 20, 2010 at the age of 86.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret S. Teves; son Terence M. Murphy and his wife Nancy, daughter Jane T. Bergman, son Alfred C. Teves II and his wife Elaine, son Thomas J. Teves; nephew Peter A. Teves; grandchildren Colleen, Alison, Sarah, and Eric; and great grandchildren Matthew, Kevin, Elli, Kaitlyn, and Ryan. Fred was born February 29, 1924 in New York, New York. After serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University.

He married Marge in Cleveland, Ohio on June 28, 1956.The two moved to Dallas shortly thereafter where they formed Tech Sales Company and Tech Fastener Company. Devout Catholics, they were founding members of Saint Rita Catholic Church in Dallas. Fred was instrumental in the development and expansion of Montserrat Retreat House in Lake Dallas and in over 30 years rarely missed an annual retreat. He had an unshakable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his belief in the power of prayer inspired many. Fred loved spending weekends on the family ranch in Aubrey, Texas, where he taught his children more than they ever wanted to know about building fences and baling hay. He raised horses and cattle for many years.

He became an avid boater in the 1980’s and spent many beloved days with friends and family at Lake Texoma. Upon retirement, Fred and Marge moved to Aubrey in 1985.They enjoyed wonderful vacations traveling in their RV. Fred was never happier than when he was tinkering in his workshop, from repairing tractor engines to restoring classic wood boats.He flew planes, rode motorcycles, and lived an extremely full and satisfying life.Above all else, he loved people and had a contagious, upbeat attitude.

He was preceded in death by father Alfred C. Teves, mother Eugenie S. Teves, brother Alfred V. Teves, and sister-in-law Vera T. Teves. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 25 at Saint Rita Catholic Church in Dallas at 10 a.m. Interment is at Calvary Hill Cemetery. Visitation at Calvary Hill Funeral Home will be held Monday, May 24 from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montserrat Foundation at www.montserratretreat.org
