Helen Juanita Crosby Lewis

Helen Juanita Crosby Lewis was born to Thomas C. Crosby and Lela Inez Phillips Crosby on May 1, 1922, in Elk City, OK, and passed away in Denton County at the Longmeadow Healthcare Center in Justin, TX, on June 22, 2009. She was married to Jack H. Lewis May 8, 1946, in Denton, TX, who passed away November 11, 1969. She attended Lake Dallas and Denton High Schools and lived most of her life in Denton County. She worked during WWII at Northwestern building B-52 Bombers, A.P. Kenos drive in grocery store, Safeway, and Winn Dixie throughout her life. Juanita is a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Denton, TX.

She had two daughters, Patsy K Grace of Denton, TX, and Jeri Jack Waldrum Hunter (deceased). She has three grandsons, Shane Grace of Denton, Jamie Waldrum (stationed in Italy with the Air Force), and Jeremy Waldrum of Waco. She has two great-grandsons, Patrick Ryan Grace of Denton, TX, and Tyler Jay Waldrum of Italy, and one great-granddaughter, Zoe Waldrum.

There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 9 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, TX, with Gary Sweatman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity of choice.

 

 

Jimmy Carlton Lindsay

Jimmy Carlton Lindsay

Jimmy Carlton Lindsay, 71, of Denton, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Denton Good Samaritan Village.

Mr. Lindsay was born on January 8, 1938, in Vernon, Texas, to Virgil and Jewell (Booker) Lindsay. He married Marie Wages on January 11, 1958. He was a police officer in Vernon, TX, as well as a member of the Santa Rosa Palomino Club. He worked as a carpenter and licensed master plumber. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Denton.

A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Roselawn Memorial Park with Rev. Russ Tieken officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the funeral home.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Carl Tatum of Pampa, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Kyle and Sheila Lindsay of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Kevin and Tracy Lindsay of Denton; sister, Carolyn McGann of Vernon, TX; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Karla Burchfield, and a grandson, Jim Bob Franklin.

Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Charles Cranford Lyles

Charles Cranford Lyles

Charles Cranford Lyles, affectionately known as “Dock,” formerly of Denton, Justin, and Brady area, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2009, in North Richland Hills at the Emerald Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

He was born to Willis E. and Mary Dooley Lyles on April 29, 1913, on a farm north of Decatur, TX. He spent part of his youth growing up in the Decatur area and attended school in the one room schoolhouse called New South. When his family moved to the Justin area, he attended Justin High School.

He was a past member of the Justin and Brady Churches of Christ and the Welch Street Church of Christ in Denton. He retired from Loadcraft Industries in Brady, TX, as a machinist.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Mary; sister, Mary V. Lyles Williams; brothers, Irby, Buddy, Woodrow, J.P., Percy; and two infant brothers.

Survivors include sisters Ruth Lyles Faught of Argyle, Daisy Lyles Woodward of N. Richland Hills; brother Gene Lyles of Brady; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.

Uncle Dock will be greatly missed. He treasured his family and friends and loved receiving their many cards and letters throughout his life and especially his last years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009, in North Richland Hills at the College Hill Church of Christ fellowship building at 2 p.m. He donated his body to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.

David W. Olson

David W. Olson

David W. Olson, 29, passed away Monday evening, May 25, 2009, of complications from diabetes. He was born in Denton, TX, and attended Denton Schools graduating from Denton High in 1998. He also attended North Texas Jr. Collage. David was working for a security firm before his unexpected death. David suffered and struggled with diabetes from age 9 but he found happiness in his family, his friends, his pets and his affection for fantasy stories including Anime, Star Wars, and Star Trek. David’s uniquely wonderful creativity showed through his writings of poetry and fantasy stories as well. He was loved by his family, friends and co-workers and will be truly missed. He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Lillian Olson, and his sister, Mariellen Olson. Donations in his memory can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes association.
