Dorothy Wilson Wallen

Dorothy Wilson Wallen, 87, of Denton passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer.

Dorothy was born in Yukon, Okla. on March 8, 1922 to Flossie and Fred Wilson. After 61 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her soul-mate, Leroy Wallen, in 2002. She happily became a Texan over 60 years ago.

Over her 87 years she wore many hats: homemaker, preschool teacher, church librarian, mall walker, landscape artist and above all wonderful wife, Mom and sweet-souled friend. After family, painting was her passion. She lived in Richardson from 1974-2007 and was an active member of FUMC Richardson. She was a member of First Christian Church Denton since relocating 2 years ago. She is survived by sister, Mattie Sibley; son, David Wallen of Va.; and daughters, Linda (George) Morrow of Denton; Andrea (Jim) Welch of Sherman; Lisa (Alan) Osur of Colo.; Vicki (Mike) Young of Colo.; 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Chapel on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Methodist Children’s Home, Waco; First Christian Church, Denton, designated Memorial/Outreach.

Click the "OK" button to exit the internet options window.
