Lady Rosalie Hyman

Born October 17, 1916 in Howe, TX, she was the eldest of the four daughters of Lucius Jerome and Eva Irene Butler, and the wife of 60 years of Ruel Richard Hyman. She left this life at sundown, Wednesday, July 23, 2008, four years after her dear husband. She is survived by their only daughter, Deborah Ann Cook and her husband, George; nephews, grand nieces and their families.

Roz was a graduate of North Texas State College (now UNT) with both Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees and several post-graduate certificates. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and spirit of fun and adventure, her willingness to take on new challenges, and her love of traveling the world. Her feet touched the ground of every continent on earth, missing only Antarctica and the North Pole. But most of all, she probably would like to be remembered for her dedication to the fourth-graders of Denton. She was a public school teacher in Texas for 37 years, at Sam Houston Elementary and at Frank Borman School in Denton from 1958 – 1990, and early in her career at Howe and Tom Bean high schools.

For the last four years she has lived at Good Samaritan Retirement Village where she leaves many good friends who all enjoyed her friendliness and her genuine concern for and interest in her neighbors there.

A brief graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2008 at Roselawn Memorial Park with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 1203 N. Fulton. Visitation will be immediately following the memorial service.
