Robert Dale Judy, Jr.
Robert Judy, age 56, of Corinth, passed away July 26, at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born January 3, 1954 in Lahore, Pakistan to Robert Dale Judy and Jean Lutrick Judy. After graduating from Denton High School in 1971 he attended North Texas State University (now UNT).He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in limnology from Colorado State University. While working in Colorado for both private and state agencies, he was a contributing author to several publications on the topics of water, fish and conservation. He was an avid sportsman, environmentalist and a master naturalist. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton.
His father, Robert Dale Judy and grandparents preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Jean of Denton, sister, Elizabeth Fleming and nephew Reece Fleming of San Antonio and various other family members.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 30th at 3:00pm, First United Methodist Church, Cole Chapel.
Robert “Bob” Davis
Robert “Bob” Davis, of Sanger, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2010. Bob was born in Dallas in 1945 and raised by parents Claire and Robert Davis. A proud 1969 graduate of the University of Texas, he was a lifelong follower of the Texas Longhorns.
Bob was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary, his two daughters, Kristina and Emily, and his four grandsons, Joshua, Luke, Caleb, and Oscar. He will be sorely missed by his dogs, Sam, Lady, Fred, Max, Petey, Jack, and Cha Cha. After a long career in information technology, Bob and his wife built the Bark ‘N Purr Inn boarding kennel, which has served thousands of animals over the last ten years. He was especially proud of his work in animal rescue through the Denton Humane Society.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 30, at the DeBerry Funeral Home, located at 2025 W. University Drive in Denton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send your donations in Bob’s honor to the Denton Humane Society, P.O. Box 1972, Denton, TX, 76202.
Mildred “Millie” Lakusta
Mildred “Millie” Lakusta, age 91, of Flower Mound, Texas passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Denton, Texas.
She was born December 25, 1918 in New York, New York to Michael Urusky and Josephine Luzecki Uruskey. She married Walter Lakusta in 1944 who preceded her in death on January 31, 1999.Millie had been living at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village and was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Denton. She was a former member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Vernon, New Jersey and St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine, Texas.
She is survived by her daughters, Pat Bianco of Flower Mound, Texas and Bobbie Brown of St. Charles, Illinois; son, Mike Lakusta of Flower Mound, Texas; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and sister, Stella Urusky of Lewisville, Texas. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sue Cullen, on February 18, 2010 and by two brothers.
Funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow at Flower Mound Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to Furman University’s Susan L. Cullen Center for Vocational Reflection. Rebecca Lee “Becky” Jarrell
Rebecca Lee “Becky” Jarrell, 63 of Denton passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. She was born June 13, 1947 in Denton to Carl and Mildred Marie Bruton Castleberry. She graduated from Denton High School and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Deacon Popo Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton.
She is survived by her sons, Eric Jarrell and wife Shelley and Bryan Jarrell and wife Charla, both of Krum; grandchildren, Kode, Sarah, Ethan, and Evan.
John L. Baker
John L. Baker, 66, of Denton, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born in Denton on June 6, 1944, to Truman and Irene Redfearn Baker. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and retired from Victor Equipment.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 29, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Friday, July 30, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Redfearn, Mark Allen, Art Baker, Steve Kitchen, Dennis Smith and Joe Redfearn.
He is survived by brother, Bill Baker of Sanger and nephew, Guinn Baker of Denton.
Betty Jean Taylor Mason
Betty Jean Taylor Mason, age 66, of Denton, passed away Sunday July 25, 2010, at her residence in Denton. She was born August 31, 1943, in Decatur, Texas to John Robert and Lena Elizabeth (Gober) Taylor. She married Charles A. Mason September 7, 1979, in Denton, Texas.
Betty was the owner and director of the Early Rise Day Care in Denton for 40 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2205, and the Denton Area Home Child Care Association.
Betty is survived by her husband Charles Mason of Denton, daughter Elizabeth Ann (Lisa) Terrell and stepdaughter Shari Newton both of Denton, stepson Greg Mason also of Denton, sisters Susie Wilson of Krum and Dorothy Nash of Granbury, brothers Albert Taylor of Bridgeport, Texas, Jimmy Taylor of Perrin, Texas, Kenneth Taylor of Oklahoma, Chock Taylor of Decatur, Texas, Tommy Taylor of Bridgeport, Texas, Ed Taylor of Sanger, Texas, grandchildren Jimmy Don Newton, Jennifer Murphey, Travis A. Terrell and Shayna M.Rivera. Great-grandchildren Nathaniel Newton, Colby Murphey, Kallie Newton, and Caden Murphey. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Katherine Love and brother Robert Taylor.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday July 28, 2010, at the Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son Chapel. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery west of Krum.
