Karin Nancy Kane

Karin Nancy Kane, 60, a herpetologist, of Sanger, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2008 in Denton.

She was born on September 18, 1947 to George and Beatrice (Dean) Gray.  In 1970, she married Bartholomew Kane, Sr. in New Jersey.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home, 403 Pecan Street, Sanger, Texas.  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church (four miles west of Sanger on FM455).

She is survived by her husband, Bart of Sanger; her son, Bartholomew Kane, Jr. of Sanger; and grandchildren, Hailley and Dean Kane.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Jerald “Jerry” Kane.

Coker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lora A. Mullen

Lora A. Mullen, 76, of Queen City, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Atlanta, Texas. She was born on October 1, 1931 in Arkansas.

Mrs. Mullen is survived by her sons, Larry Mullen and his wife, Sherry, of Denton, Texas, Pat Mullen and his wife, Belinda, of Burleson, Texas, and John Mullen and his wife, Mary, of Burleson; daughter, Judy Nuckels and her husband, the Rev. Samuel, of Atlanta, Texas; brother, Charles Jett of Jackson, Miss.; and sister, Charlene Landry of Shreveport, La. Eleven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive Mrs. Mullen. Her husband, Charles Mullen, and her grandchildren, Samuel Edward Nuckels II and Meghan Mullen, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mullen was an honorary member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Atlanta, Texas. She worked as an LVN and as an apartment manager for a number of years when she lived in Denton.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008, at First Assembly of God Church, Denton. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Denton, Texas, with the Rev. Kevin Lough and the Rev. Samuel Nuckels officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.

Johnny Craig Aguilar

Johnny Craig Aguilar, 54, of Denton, passed away August 26, 2008 at Denton Regional Medical Center.  He was born on September 8, 1953 in Detroit, MI, to Carmen and Naomi Aguilar.  He attended Olivet College and went on to work for Fidelity National Title Insurance Company.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.  Mr. Joe Davis will be officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Jean Aguilar; daughter, Melissa Ann Aguilar of Denton; son, Michael James Aguilar of Chestnut Hill, MA; sisters, Naomi Mullins of Dingess, WV and Charlotte Hicks of Union City, TN; and five grandchildren.

Virginia Kay Grissom
Virginia Kay Grissom, 69, of Weatherford, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in Denton.  She was born in Durant OK on October 13, 1938 to J. Leonard Grafa and Helen Virginia Skalenda.  She married William Roy Grissom on September 2, 1956 in Denton.  She worked at Russell’s Department Store for 20 years and was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church for 35 years and was currently a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Weatherford.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles Bruner and Rev. Prentice Barnett officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Monty Elbert, Jay Coin, Rory Grissom, Lanny Grissom, and Roy Wayne Hartsel.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Grissom of Weatherford; son, Roger Grissom of Weatherford; daughters, Kim Barnett and Holly Worthey, both of Denton; brothers, Ron Grafa and John Grafa, both of Denton; grandchildren, Blake, Ryan, Stephni, Zach, Ally, Tyler and Emily.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

Ruby Lee Reynolds

Tioga – Ruby Lee Reynolds, 97 of Tioga, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in Pilot Point.  She was born on December 28, 1910 in Blue Grove to Charles Ewing and Mary Suzanne (Berryman) Gill.  She married Fred Reynolds on December 3, 1930, he preceded her in death.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tioga. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Tioga.  Rev. Luther Slay and Rev. Roger Marsh will officiate.  Burial will follow at Tioga Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on from 7 – 8 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008 at Huff/Slay Funeral Home. 

She is survived by two sons, Edward Reynolds and Benny Reynolds, both of Tioga; three daughters, Freda Baker and Judy Smith both of Tioga, and Susie White of Seattle, WA.  She is also survived by sisters, Viola Betts of Canyon, Marie Browning of Wichita Falls, and Bernice Schleiper of Midway, AL; and brother, Doyle Gill of Carrollton.

Charles Porter Ridens

Charles Porter Ridens passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at his residence. He was born to pioneer northeast Texas parents L.F. and Stella (Legate) Ridens in the small farming community of Fulbright. He was a graduate of Fulbright High School and Arlington State College. He retired from University of North Texas Computing Center.

Charles was a longtime member of the nondenominational Men’s Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), having served as a discussion leader for several years before his health forced him to retire from leadership. He continued to participate as long as his health permitted.  Charles was a member of First United Methodist Church-Denton, where he served as a Stephen Minister, on the Prayer Committee, the Library Committee and the Administrative Board.

Prior to joining First United Methodist, Charles was a member of First Christian Church-Denton for many years where he served as a Deacon and Elder, a Church School teacher and, along with his wife, Carol, as sponsor of Christian Youth Fellowship. He also served on almost every functional committee of First Christian, including the Administrative Board.

Charles had served as a member of the Mental Health Mental Retardation Board and the City of Denton Traffic-Safety Commission.

Charles will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his commitment to study of the Holy Bible, and his love of people.  Charles never met a stranger.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Matt Gaston and the Rev. Lisa Marshall officiating.  Inurnment will be at the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. Visitation will follow in the Miller Center.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ridens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacque and Jack Kenner of Odessa and Wanda and Bill Reddell of Mineral Wells; sister-in-law, Chris Skaggs of Mount Pleasant; and brother-in-law, Glenn Clayton of Dallas. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him.

Lora A. Mullen

Lora A. Mullen, 76, of Queen City, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Atlanta, Texas. She was born on October 1, 1931 in Arkansas.

Marion Frank Wright

Marion Frank Wright, 54, of Denton, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. 

Services are pending with DeBerry Funeral Directors.
