Dorothy (Durham) Davenport

Denton resident, Dorothy (Durham) Davenport, age 85, passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at Food Samaritan Village, her home since 2002.

Dorothy was born June 2, 1924 to Harriett Beeler and Roy Moss Durham of Hodgenville, KY. She was married for 53 years to her high school sweetheart, Carl Allen Davenport.He preceded her in death.

A member of Greenville United Methodist Church, Greenville, KY, Dorothy was a long-time volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Muhlenberg County Hospital Auxiliary.

Dorothy is the mother of Rebekah (Mrs. Dave) Carr of Shady Shores, TX; Carlette (Mrs. Barry) Hines of Katy, TX; and Michael Davenport (wife, Margaret) of Madisonville, KY.Grandchildren include, Christopher Barrett Hines (wife, Amy) of Katy, TX, Wylie Allen Carr (wife, Austen) of Missoula, MT, Caitlin Beeler Carr of Lubbock, TX, Gavin Benner Carr of Lubbock, TX, Molly Amanda Davenport of Lexington, KY, Maggie Alexandra Davenport of Lexington, KY, Jennifer Rebekah Hines, deceased, and Megan Ashley Davenport, deceased; great grandchildren, Mason Christopher, Carter Wade, and Madeline Grace Hines of Katy, TX.

Visitation will be from 6:30 – 8 p.m. (EST) on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Bennett and Bertram Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. (EST) at Bennett and Bertram Funeral Home, Hodgenville, KY. Burial will follow at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville, KY.

The family requests memorials may be made to Denton Area Young Life, P.O. Box 255, Denton, Texas 76202.
