Ms. Dominique L. Jackson passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Denton Regional hospital.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2009 from 7-8 pm at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1 pm at St. Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow funeral services in Oakwood Cemetery.

Dominique was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Solomon and mother Hazel Morris.

She is survived by one daughter, Shauniece Jackson; five siblings, Octavia Gudger, Colette Franklin, Wirt Jackson, Felicia Fernandez and Rodney Jackson; one grandchild, Kamorian Jackson; one uncle, James Morris and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

 

 

Zayne Edward Walke

Zayne Edward Walke of Trenton, was born and died on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.

 A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Belew Cemetery with Frank Ehrhorn officiating.A visitation will be held from 10:30 -12:30 pm before the graveside service at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey.

He is survived by his parents, John and Ashley Armor of Trenton, paternal grandparents, Vanessa Pelley of Trenton and Randy Walke of Little Elm, maternal grand parents, Tonya Worthy and fiancé Jimmy Sanders of Savannah and Jeffery Armor of Aubrey.He is also survived by paternal great-grandparents Jim and Evie Pelley of Trenton and maternal great-grandparents Bill & Lois Worthy of Aubrey and Billy and Edwina Armor of Aubrey.As well as four uncles, Blake Armor of Savanah, Justin Walke and Ryan Walke, both of Lewisville and Morgan Walke of New Mexico, aunts Peyton Terry and Tori Terry of Savannah and Lauryn Armor of Keller.

Services are under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, Texas.

 

 

 

Naomi Marrow

Naomi Morrow, 86, of Gainesville funeral services are set for Friday October 16, 2009 at 2 pm at the Geo J Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Ben Willingham and Gene Davenport officiating.

Mrs. Morrow died at Pecan Tree Manor Nursing Home Tuesday October 13, 2009.Family Visitation is set for Thursday October 15, 2009 from 7 to 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

 

 

 

“Ishie” Lawrence L. Kilman, Jr.

Lawrence L. “Ishie” Kilman, Jr., 92 at the young age of 92, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2009, at home in Denton, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with the residual effects of a fall and stroke he suffered in April.

Ishie Kilman was born May 30, 1917 in Kingston, Louisiana.Prior to living with his daughter in Denton for the last ten years, he lived in Mandeville, LA and Franklinton, LA where he was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church.He was formerly a long-time resident of DeRidder, LA where he spent most of his childhood and graduated from DeRidder High School where playing football was a memorable event.

Ishie and Billie Naurite Abney, his wife of 55 years, and three daughters continued to reside in DeRidder as active members and volunteers for many community and school events.He retired from the Ford dealership where he worked for over forty years, was a member of the DeRidder Lodge No. 271 and an active member of the Lions Club.Ishie was proud to have served in the US Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Naurite Abney Kilman; his parents, Lawrence “Lon” Leopold Kilman and Myrtis Marie Scott Kilman; his brother, Lloyd Gregg Kilman; his sister, Doris “Tot” Marie Kilman.

The favorite thing in Ishie’s life was to brag about his three daughters and their families.He is survived by his daughter, Gladys Marie Keeton of Denton, TX; his daughter and son-in-law, DorothyNaurite and Gerald Devillier of Baton Rouge, LA; and his daughter and son-in-law, Debra Lea and Bo Morris of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Shawn Broussard, Baton Rouge, LA; Troy Broussard, Morgan City, LA; John Keeton, Tulsa, OK; Tina Broussard, Baton Rouge, LA; Tanya Williams, Corinth, TX; Anitalea Keeton, Austin, TX; five great grandchildren, Kayla and Jason Keeton, Tulsa, OK; Lynne and Haley Williams, Corinth, TX; Katy Broussard, Baton Rouge, LA.

In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, traveling, music, festivals, skating, LSU sports and anything “he had not done before”.He was known by his family not only as a “proud, strong man with a heart of gold” but also as the “World’s Oldest Teenager”.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16 at 11 am at Hixson Funeral Home, 210 North Pine Street, DeRidder, Louisiana 70634, followed by burial at the Beauregard Cemetery.Visitation will be Thursday, October 15 from 5-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity or organization will be appreciated.

Patricia Ann Quinones, 74, a retired bookkeeper, went to be with our Lord on Monday, October12, 2009.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Julian Garcia officiating.Interment will be 2 p.m. in Burleson Memorial Cemetery in Burleson, Texas.Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Coker – Hawkins Funeral Home.Pallbearers include: John Beckham, Tommy Smith, Todd West, Daniel Beckham, Justin Smith, and Marshall Jones.

Patricia was born October 7, 1935 in Palo Pinto County, Texas to Ernest Milton and Birtie Edgmon Young.She was a bookkeeper for 13 years for the Town of Ponder where she retired in 2008.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cindy Smith and husband Tommy of Alvord, and Karen Beckham and husband John of Weatherford; 1 sister, Barbara Jean Phillips of Rendon; 6 grandchildren, Marshall Jones, Kristina West, Justin Smith, Nichole Hernandez, Kelly Beckham, and Daniel Beckham; 4 great grandchildren, Sabra, Xaviera, Dominick, and Kaleton; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents.

 

 

 

John Paul “Johnny” Heffley, Sr.

John Paul “Johnny” Heffley, Sr.

John Paul“Johnny” Heffley, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away into the waiting arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 12, 2009 surrounded by his wife and children at home in a room that was filled with so much love for this wonderful man.

Johnny was born to Floyd and Bessie (Dickey) Heffley on February 7, 1934 in Mt. Judea, Arkansas. At the age of 3, his family moved to Texas. After graduation from Collinsville High School in 1952, he worked at Central Airlines in Ft. Worth as a radio mechanic. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed a short time in Germany, France & Luxembourg. Following his honorable discharge, he attended the University of North Texas. On June 5, 1959 he married his “Dream Girl” Sarah Morales at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton.

Mr. Heffley worked for Moore Business Forms for 15 years as a Graphic Artist, Forms Design Supervisor & Assistant Manager Sales Promotion. In 1974, he went freelance and worked as a self-employed Commercial Artist for 25 years before retiring. Johnny enjoyed singing and playing his banjo at the Denton Courthouse-on-the-Square on Saturday mornings. Weekday evenings he played his banjo with a small band at various nursing homes in Collinsville, Pilot Point, and Gainesville and on Saturday nights at the community centers in Mountain Springs, Celina, and Van Alstyne. Mr. Heffley was passionate about fishing and loved the outdoors. In the last several years, he made many acquaintances during his daily walks around Denton. As a gifted artist, his paintings and drawings were gorgeous and brought joy to his family.Much of his artwork chronicled his real-life experiences and will be forever cherished by his family. He recently turned his interests to writing poetry.He was a talented songwriter and his family will forever treasure the CD of original music that he recorded of some of the many songs he wrote.

Mr. Heffley never spoke an unkind word about anyone and was always willing to help anyone. He was a loving father and grandfather. An honest, Christian man, he led by example, teaching his children and grandchildren the value of family and life lessons to guide them. The stories he told and the love he gave will carry his family through many generations. Papa was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He was the best Papa!

Visitation is 6 - 8pm Thursday, October 15, at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, TX.Funeral service, officiated by Father Victor Cruz, is 1 p.m. Friday, October 16 in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.Pallbearers are his son, Scott Heffley, his grandsons Ross Hammond, Christopher Hammond, and John Paul Heffley, III, and nephews Ken Stanley, Jr. and David Bishop.

John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sarah, and his children Julie Hammond, Cindy Heffley, John Paul Heffley, Jr. and wife Jan, Scott Heffley and wife Barbara; grandchildren Ross, Christopher, and Katie Hammond; John Paul, III, “Jonathan”, Jasmine, Jillian and Jared Heffley; and Annie and Joseph Heffley; sisters Lois Brock and Anna Cline, and brother Gerald Heffley.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ormand, Bunk, Dale, and Jim Heffley, granddaughter Jordan Heffley, and son-in-law David Hammond.
