Billy Randall Carr

Billy Randall Carr, 83, of Denton, died Saturday October 17, 2009 at Medical Center of McKinney.

Mr. Carr, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was born on May 4, 1926 in Newcastle, Texas to Richard and Ida Irene (Daniels) Carr. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Vernnie Rose Wages in Olney, TX on February 25, 1950. He was a member of the Anna Street Church of Christ. After his military service, Billy became a Master of auto body repair in north Texas. Also Billy and Vernnie were owner operators of Carr's Speed Queen Laundry on Locust St. and Carr's Sharpening Service on Elm St. in Denton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday October 21, 2009 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home. 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. Bro. Michael McCorkle will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Vernnie Carr of Denton; sons, Walter Carr of Flower Mound, Glenn Carr of Denton, Gene Carr of Dallas, Robert Carr of Lockhart; brother, Pat Carr of Olney; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Carr and two brothers, Darwin Carr and Dicky Carr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anna Street Church of Christ 1720 Anna St., Denton, TX 76201; or to a charity of your choice.

Charles Bufford Herring

Charles Bufford Herring, age 63 and a resident of Krum, Texas passed away on October 19, 2009 in Plano, Texas.  Charles was born July 24, 1946 in Cranshaw, Mississippi to Leslie and Verna Herring.  He is survived by his wife Marge Herring, stepdaughter, Sherry Patterson and husband Mike; 3 grandsons, Michael Cade Insall, Brandt Tyler Insall, and Scott Philip Insall; brothers, Jimmy Wayne Herring, Bobby Carroll Herring, and Michael Herring; and sisters, Celestine Brown and Verna Coston.
    He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Ellen Muncel, Linda Jewell, and Ruby Jean Sanders.  Charles was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lewisville.  He was employed in the past at Lewisville Independent School District, a bus driver for Durham Transportation for the LISD and was currently employed by the Krum Independent School District. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 7-9 pm at Dalton and Son Funeral Home in Lewisville.  Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Dalton and Son Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton.  Pastor Ernest Sigrest will officiate.  To sign an online register or convey condolences, please visit www.daltonandson.com.

Kern David Howard

Kern David Howard, 56 of Mountain Springs Community passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 in Gainesville.  He was born December 18, 1952 in Plymouth, IN to Kern and Joyce Wagenknecht Howard.  He married Shareen Aboul-Ela on March 15, 1996.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a rancher.

A memorial service will be Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with David Wilson officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Shareen Howard of Mountain Springs Community, daughters, Kimberly Ramon of Grand Prairie, Kristine Howard of Denton; grandchildren, Andrew, Bryanna, Greg, Jr., Michaela and Samantha; mother, Joyce Howard of Indianapolis IN and sister, Susan Ford of Indianapolis IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials made to Denton County Friends of the Family.
