Reta Ladell Davis
Reta Ladell Davis, 93, of Denton passed away Sunday morning in Ponder. She was born March 30, 1916 in Mineola, TX to James Alexander and Lena Towne Alexander. She was a member of the Lake Cities United Methodist Church for over 78 years.
She was the youngest of six children. She was married to Robert A. Davis in October of 1938 in Denton. He preceded her in death in 1971.The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. for visitation.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 2 p.m., at the Lake Cities United Methodist Church with burial at the Swisher Cemetery.
She is survived by: three sons, James McCurley & wife Patsy of Sanger, Herb McCurley & wife Claudine of Denton, Charlie Joe Davis & wife Vicki of Kaufman, one daughter Betty Brown & husband Jack of Justin and 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Cities United Methodist Church or the Swisher Cemetery Association.
DeBerry Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
Loraine Foster
Loraine Foster, 95, passed peacefully from this world Saturday, October 31, 2009 at a local hospital in Abilene, Texas. Loraine was born to Ed and Sallie Stanley on February 25, 1914 in Blum, Texas. She married Howard A. Foster in Dallas on September 7, 1941 and they spent most of their 63 years together in Denton, Texas until his death October 28, 2004.
Her parents and a brother, Billy Stanley, and sisters, Edna Brister and Stella Luck precede her in death.
She is survived by daughter, Sally Doss and husband Bill of Abilene and son Bob Foster and wife Karen of Point; five grandchildren: Larry Doss and wife Julie of Lubbock; Trey Foster of Athens, Georgia; Brian Foster and wife Brea of Farmers Branch; Didi Pierce and husband Kyle of Abilene and Jennifer Foster of Amarillo. Seven great-grandchildren: Ashley and Allison Pierce of Abilene; Abby and Matthew Doss of Houston; Grace Shoop of Lubbock; Brittany and Ariel Foster of Farmers Branch also survive her.
She moved to Abilene to be closer to her family in 2006. Loraine was a Christian and a long time member of Denton Baptist Temple. She was very influential on the lives of all who knew her. She was very active and began oil painting and learned to play the organ and piano after the age of 70. She enjoyed traveling and being around her loving family and friends.
A graveside ceremony will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at Restland in Dallas with family visitation at 8 a.m. The family gratefully acknowledges Christian care from Dr. Tim Martin and the loving care provided by the staff of Wisteria Place Retirement Center and Hendrick Hospice.
Aaron Curt Henderson
Funeral services for Aaron Curt Henderson, 30, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday November 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gainesville with Dr. Mark Denison Officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Geo J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Monday, November 2, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m.Curt passed away Friday October 30, 2009 at his residence.
Curt is survived by parents: Pam and Charley Henderson of Gainesville; brothers, Chris Henderson of Lewisville, ChadHenderson of Gainesville; sister, Courtney Henderson of Denton, sister-in-law, Jennifer Henderson of Lewisville; nephew, Caden Henderson; step-niece, Addison Munoz; maternal grandmother, Bobie Cantrell of Gainesville; paternal grandmother, Jean Henderson of Gainesville; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins including Uncle Brent Cantrell and family Trudy, Danielle, Tyler, Dakota and Baily of Pilot Point.
Curt was preceded in death by grandfathers, Jimmy Cantrell and Milton Henderson.
Curt was a 1997 graduate of Gainesville High and played football at Howard Payne one year. He also attended UNT. Curt had just moved back to Gainesville where he opened his New York Life Office. In the short year he was with the company, he had achieved numerous awards and had made executive council with the company.He was a football official for 11 years calling high school games. He officiated college games for three years. Curt also loved basketball officiating and pee wee football. Curt was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Memorials in Curt’s name can be made to First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Henderson, Chad Henderson, Brent Cantrell, Shannon Cain, Ken Gilbreath and Mike Rosenberg. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Stacey Hardin, David Burch, Jimmy Evans, John Win, and Marvin Royal.You may sign the on-line registry at www.geojcarroll.com .
