Chad Riney

Chad Riney passed away on September 30, 2009.

He was born on December 18, 1969 to the late Grafton Riney and Sybil Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father, one son, a brother and his grandparents, Frank and Merley Riney and Charlene Smith.

He is survived by his mother, his son Bradley, his daughter Annie one brother Roy and sisters, Julie and Holly, numberous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial for his service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Midway Cemetery in Talco Texas.

 

 

Michael L. Hamilton

Michael L. Hamilton, age 58, of Lake Dallas passed away Monday November 2, 2009 at Denton Good SamaritanVillage.Services are pending with Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.

 

 

Dr. William Booth Warde, Jr.

Dr. William Booth Warde, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, TX, with his family by his side.

He was born February 13, 1933, in Minneapolis, NM, to William B. and Anna Agatha Hodik Warde. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Patricia Nell Wynn on June 11, 1961, in Holmes County, MS. She preceded him in death.

He attended public schools in Minnesota and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and Masters and Ph. D. from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Warde was a faculty member at the University of North Texas from 1965 until his retirement in 2005. At UNT he served as Director of the Student Use of English Program (which later became the University Writing Center) from its inception in 1978 until his retirement. He served on the University Faculty Senate and on several departmental, college, and university committees.

Dr. Warde served in several leadership positions with the South-Central Modern Language Association and the Southern Humanities Conference.

He was a passionate artist and worked as a sculptor primarily with metal as well as other found objects. He won an award for an entry in an “On Your Own Time” GDAC exhibition at the Visual Arts Center, and more recently he won an award from the Visual Arts Society of Texas for one of his sculptures.

At the time of his death he was serving on the Board of Directors of the MADI Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas, TX. Warde was also a longtime member of the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth.

Bill Warde is survived by his loving companion of many years, Linnie McAdams; daughter Anna P. Warde of Austin, TX; son Samuel W. Warde of Buenos Aires, Argentina; sister Kathi Kreatz of Plymouth, MN; niece DeeAnn Rosen and husband Steward of Minneapolis, MN; nephews Michael Kreatz, David and Mary Kreatz; great nieces Shauna and Vanessa Rosen; and great nephew Leo Kreatz of Minnesota.

Dr. Warde is fondly remembered and will be greatly missed by his many friends, particularly those in the Gourmet Group, who knew him as “weird Warde.”

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Denton, 120 South Carroll Blvd.

Karen May Kyker, 74 of Denton, Texas, passed away Monday,

November 02, 2009 at her residence after a lengthy illness.She was born

October 7, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Chris and Ann Jorgensen.She married Charles T. Kyker on February 18, 1966 in Sioux City, Iowa.She retired after 20 years combined Federal Service with the Department of Defense and the USDA.She was a Christian Believer and a member of the Lutheran Church.

A private family service is planned for a future date.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Kyker of Denton; son, Christian Kyker of Denton; daughter, Lisa Johnson of Salinas, CA; and granddaughter, Miriam Johnson of Salinas, CA.She is preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Sharen Campbell and infant daughter, Louise Ann Kyker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPAN-Meals on Wheels, 1800 Malone, Denton, Texas 76201.

 

 

Marilyn Lee Smith

Marilyn Lee Smith, known to friends and family as “Lee”, 78 of Denton passed away Monday, November 2, 2009. She was born July 30, 1931 in Jefferson City, MO to Russell M. and Margaret Harris Tate.She married David Gene Smith in Fort Worth in November, 1962.He preceded her in death in October 1971.She retired as a Legal Assistant for Merv Waage.She was a member of Glory of Zion Church, Mu Phi Epsilon, Phi Mu and Denton Legal Secretaries and had graduated from TCU in 1954.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 6 – 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors.Funeral service will be Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

She is survived by daughter, Dee Dee Woodard and husband Stephen of Carrollton; son, Brian Smith of Lewisville; granddaughters, Beverly Hays and husband Brian of McKinney, Christina Harris and husband Terence of Arlington, Elysia Dugan and husband Charles, Michelle Carmichael and husband Trint of Carrollton; grandson, Sean Dickinson and wife Courtney of Carrollton; and 3 great grandchildren, Daniel Carmichael, Kayla Dickinson and Abigail Hays; and Candace and Jason Selph.She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

John Adams Upchurch

John Adams Upchurch, 72, of Denton, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.He was born April 27, 1937 in Lewisville, Texas to Charlie and Myrtle (Lusk) Upchurch.He was married to Carol King on July 17, 1965 in Fort Worth, TX He was a Diesel Mechanic and Truck Driver, and a member of the Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 5, 2009 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Dentonwith Rev. Kim Broadstreet, officiating.Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery at Krum.The family will be at the Funeral Home for visitation on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 6 – 8 pm.

Mr. Upchurch is survived by his wife, Carol Upchurch, of Denton, Daughters, Bwana Kay Francis, of Leroy, OHLisa Ann Anderson, of Ponder, Tammie Danette England, of Mineola, Renea Upchurch, of Alice,Son, John Adams Upchurch, Jr. of Alice,and sisters Pat Davis, of Decatur, and Joy Teague, of Whitesboro and twelve Grandchildren. James Enis

James Enis, 55, of Pasadena went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, November 02, 2009.He was a loving and devoted son, father and husband.James’s passion in life was his grandchildren whom he adored so much.He enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, fast cars, baseball in his youth, and was an amateur astronomer. Music was the joy he shared with his son throughout his life.James was employed at Goodyear for approximately 22 years.He will be greatly missed by many.

James is survived by his wife Gerri, mother Joyce Enis, son Adam and wife Kim Enis, step-sons James Gale, Jeff Gale and wife Samantha and Brian Gale, step daughters Sherri True-Lock and husband David, Loraine Tang-Wing and husband Francis, Amy Bozarth and husband Bradley, grandchildren Danielle Gullett, Lanie Gullett, E.J. Enis, Andrew Tang-Wing, Phillip Tang-Wing, Gale Tang-Wing, Allie Tang-Wing, Ray T. Gale, Alazne Gale, Kelley R. Gale, Brayden Montgomery, also Aunt Linda and Uncle Adren Reed.He is preceded in death by his father Jack Enis, daughter Peyton Enis and brother Mark Enis.

A celebration of James’ life will be held Thursday November 5, 2009 at 3 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4202 Yellowstone Dr., Pasadena, TX 77504.Burial will follow at La Porte Cemetery.
