Pamela Charlene Robbins

Pamela Charlene Robbins, born January 23, 1952, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007, in Normal, IL. 

She is survived by P.A. Prince and Louise Robbins of Denton; two aunts, Shirley Woody and Lou Woody of Bowie, TX; and cousin, David Allen Riley of Tioga.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Charlene Woody, two daughters, Kristy Michelle Fults and Kelly Amanda Blanchard of Denton; three brothers, Howard Wayne Tutor, Scott Cory Tutor and Richard Byron Tutor, also of Denton.

We love her very much and she will be truly missed.

Ilene Patricia "Pat" Lawrence

Ilene Patricia "Pat" Lawrence of Justin passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007.  She was born July 14, 1944, in Lemesa, Texas, to Walter S. Metz, Jr., and Natalie Garza Rodriquez Metz.

She is survived by four daughters, Anna Roberts of Springfield, VA, Marianne Lawrence and Vickie Lawrence of Justin, Texas, and Josephine Sahlin; two sons, Daniel Easley of Boydton, VA, and Robert Lawrence of Justin, Texas; her father, Walter S. Metz, Jr., of Arkansas; grandsons, David and Alex Roberts; granddaughters, Natalie and Daniella Easley; and her dear friend, Melva Kunkle.  She was preceded in death in 1990 by her son, James Sahlin and in 1984 by her husband, Tyler D. White.

Services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Justin.  Graveside service will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Bedford, Virginia.

 

Lindal Foster O'Neal

Lindal Foster O'Neal, 74, of Denton passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Denton Regional Hospital. He was born September 6, 1933 in Hallsville, TX. He retired from the U.S. Army on April 30, 1979 after 22 years of service at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He loved football and Nascar.

He is survived by his wife, Jean O'Neal of Denton; daughter, Cynthia Smith and husband, Stephen of Houston; step-children, Kathy and Ernest of CA; grandchildren, Sunshine Verrett and husband, Jesse of Lafayette, LA, Cassandra Manzera of San Marcus and Patrick Bassett of Denton; numerous step-grandchildren; four great-grandsons, Jonathan, James, Ethan and Tristan; numerous step great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Richey of PA and Glenn Richey of Euless; sister, Mary Harris of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin O'Neal; mother, Bonnie Blaylock; stepfather, Gus Richey and stepson David.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. for visitation. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Pastor Raymond Castro officiating. Burial will be at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2 p.m., Lane A.

Vicki Ann Falde

Vicki Ann Falde of Denton, Texas passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007 from complications of diabetes and heart disease.  Her journey on earth is over as she is with our Lord, but her justified concerns for the globe continue.

Falde graduated from Edgewater High School in Orlando, FL, and then attended a 2-year college, Hannibal-LaGrange College in MO to study Journalism.  In 1977 she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (English/Journalism) from Louisiana State University,

Baton Rouge, LA. Following college, she worked at Yellowstone National Park for a summer and thus began her love of nature and concern for global issues.  Falde worked for the Houston Chronicle in public broadcasting, at Rice University in the registrar’s

office, for the Department of Agriculture, and North Texas University. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting.

She was a staunch environmental activist concerned with global warming and an active promoter of recycling and reusing earth’s resources. In recent years, she became an integral member of several interactive websites and will be missed for her intellect and caring nature.

A visitation was held Monday, November 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with a memorial service at 11:00a.m.

Vicki is survived by her brother, Greg and wife, Rebecca Anderson Falde of West Fargo, North Dakota; two nephews Steffen, and Eric; and many friends both locally and online.

Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Robert “Bob” Elias Ristom,

Robert “Bob” Elias Ristom, 70, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.  This world lost a great man that day.  He was born in Norwood, Massachusetts to the late William and Sadie Ristom. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue Warren Ristom; and their two children; SFC Will Elias Ristom (wife, Stella) of Heidelberg, Germany and Miriam Ristom Engleman (husband, Chris) of Lantana, Texas; five grandchildren, Miriam Ristom, Will Ristom, Hannah Engleman, Abbey Engleman and Erin Engleman; and two sisters, Miriam Ristom Salem (husband, Bill) of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Wilda Helen Ristom Abraham (husband, Ned) of El Paso, Texas.  His brothers, Joe and Eddie; and his sister, Lila, preceded him in death. 

Bob served proudly in the Air Force and was a veteran of The Vietnam War.  His passion for his country never faltered.  His daily life was all about his faith, his family and his country.  He never knew a stranger and never was without a smile.  His farewell was always “God Bless You”.

Bob was a frequent contributor to the editorials in this paper.  He was never at a loss for words and no one could ever wonder where Bob stood on an issue.  His hope would be that someone would carry on his passion for conservatism.

A funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.  A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. 

David Allen Scruggs

David Scruggs, known as Dave or Dave-Oh! to all who were his family and friends passed away on November 15, 2007, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born on August 30, 1948, at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC to Lt. Col. Richard Hayes Scruggs and Anna Dybing Scruggs, who were both World War II veterans.

He graduated from Arapaho High School (1966) in Littleton, CO and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Northern Colorado (1969) Dave was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1970 — 1977. He flew the P-3 Orion aircraft with deployments in Iceland, Sicily and Azores Islands. After his naval aviation career he became a pilot for Delta Airlines and retired as a captain with 21 years of service in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding John Deer farm equipment and his two dachshunds, Gus and Laurie Darling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jeannette McClendon Scruggs, who he married on February 14, 1976 at the Saufley Field Navy Chapel in Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Hayes Scruggs II, and his wife Kimberly of Linneus, MO: his nephew and his wife, Eric Hayes and Amy Scruggs of Kansas City, KS: his great-nephew, Evan Hayes Scruggs of Kansas City, KS; his niece, Ann-Marie Scruggs of Topeka, KS; his aunt and her husband Borghild and Robert De Villiers of West Chester, OH; two aunts, Gudrun Storhoff and Doris Dybing, both of Lanesboro, MN; a sister-in-law and her husband, Lois and Glen Doan of Plano, TX; and many cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services and internment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL on November 23, 2007, at 12:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a veterans organization of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Roy M. Joseph and his office staff, Dr. Charles Grodzin and the angel nurses and support staff on the third and fourth floor of Denton Regional Medical Center.
