Elder James Cooper, Sr.

Elder James Cooper, Sr. passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Denton Regional Hospital.Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 from 7-8 pm at Peoples Funeral Home.Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11 am at St. Andrew Church of God in Christ.Interment will immediately follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Elder Cooer was preceded in death by his mother and father, Fred and Inez Cooper, his loving wife Imogene Cooper; one child, Warren Ebron and one brother, Boston Cooper.

He is survived by three children, Alford Cooper and wife Juanita, James Cooper, Jr. and wife Yvette, and Calvin Wallace; six siblings, nine grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

 

Billy G. Mitchell, Sr.

Billy G. Mitchell, Sr. passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at Denton Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 from 6-7 pm at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009 at

2:30 pm at Simmons Street Church of Christ. Interment will immediately follow services in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruben and Thetta Mitchell, his loving wife, Catherine Mitchell and one brother, James Mitchell, Sr.

He is survived by one child, Billy G. Mitchell, II and wife Tammy, two siblings, Ruben L. Mitchell, Jr. and Otis Mitchell, three grandchildren, Billy G. Mitchell, III, Cameron Mitchell and Jared Mitchell and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

 

Ronald Wayne Bell

Ronald Wayne Bell, 67 of Aubrey passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009 in Denton. He was born on June 16, 1942 in Sherman to James Winford and Irene (Pettit) Bell. He married Judy Ann Buell on July 16, 1966 in Aubrey. He was a machinist at Raytheon for 30+ years.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10 am at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. John Theisen officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 7-8 pm at Slay Memorial Funeral Center.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Aubrey, one son, Billy Bell of Aubrey, and one daughter, Rhonda Brawner and husband Jerry of Savannah. He is also survived by one brother, Mike Bell and wife Connie of Denton, five grandchildren, Amber Bell, J.J. Brawner, Stacee Brawner, Jacob Brawner, and Kelsey Brawner, and an uncle, Bo Bettit of Whitewright. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Bell.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations may be made to Ford Masonic Lodge of Pilot Point, P.O. Box 771, Pilot Point, TX 76258.

 

 

Arno “Booster” Thurmond Jr.

Arno “Booster” Thurmond JR. of Lewisville passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the age of 84. Arno was born in McCurley Prairie, TX to Arno and Roxann (McCurley) Thurmond.He married Bobbie June Grady on October 7, 1949 in Denton, TX. Arno was a member of Lake Dallas Church of Christ. He worked for Lone Star Gas Company for 35 years before retiring.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 6:30-8pm at Denton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 20, 2009 at 1pm at the Lake Dallas Church of Christ. Burial will follow at McCurly Cemetery in Lewisville.Andy Warren will officiate.

Survivors include his son, Tony and wife Teresa Thurmond of Highland Village; brother, Delmas Thurmond of Dallas; sister, Peggy Jenkins of Lake Dallas, Margaret Vaughn of Dallas, and Abbie Hammonds of Denton; sister-in-law, Mary Thurmond of Lewisville; grandchildren, Dustin and Jonathan; great-grandchild, Audry Thurmond; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Bobbie June Grady.

Pallbearers are Jonathan and Dustin Thurmond, Darrell, Dwayne, and Gary Jenkins, and Mike Hunter.

Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
