Annie V. Medcafe

Annie V. Medcafe passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Renaissance Hospital in Dallas, TX.

Visitation was held Monday, November 23, 2009 from 7 – 8 pm at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11 am at Antioch Christian Fellowship in Corinth, TX. Interment will immediately follow the funeral services in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Medcafe was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ophelia and William Goodall, Jr., her loving husband, Clinton Medcafe, Sr., one son, Paul Eugene Branham, two siblings, William Roscoe Goodall, Jr. and Evelyn Johnson.

She is survived by six children, Donelle Branham, Linda Branham, Vickie Williams, Terry Williams, Kathy Williams and Victor Williams, two siblings Troy Hampton Goodall and Roxie Lee Gates, seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great-grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

 

Bruce Carlton Lafollet

Bruce Carlton Lafollet, age 60 of Van Alstyne, TX passed away November 23, 2009 in Denton, TX.

He was born on September 5, 1949 in McKinney, TX to Ralph and Evelyn (Cates) Lafollett and was a resident at the Denton State School for the last 40 years. The family would like to thank the staff of Denton Regional Medical Center and the Denton State School for their excellent quality of care and support.

Bruce is survived by his father, Ralph Lafollett of Van Alstyne, TX, brothers, Charles Lafollett and wife, Susan of Van Alstyne, TX and Duane Lafollett and wife, Stasha of Sherman, TX, nephews, Brad Lafollett and Douglas Lafollett, nieces, Caroline Lafollett and Brittany Lafollett, aunt and uncle, Basil and Bobbie Lafollett of Richardson, TX, great-niece, Zoe Lafollett.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Lafollett and grandparents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Williams Cemetery in McKinney, TX with Brother Jimmy Tarrant officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.flesherfh.com.

 

 

Fred Kenneth Fields

Fred Kenneth Fields, 72, passed away November 10, 2009, of complications of ALS – Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He was born in Clovis, NM, the only child of Fred and Virginia Fields, formerly of Tucumcari. He graduated from NMSU.He worked for the U.S. Geological Survey, and then entered the real estate profession as an agent and then owner-broker of Fred Fields Real Estate.

Fred resided in Hickory Creek, TX, at the time of his death, with his wife of 49 years, Mary Jean Fields.He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bruce Western, and three grandchildren, and a son, Kenneth Fields, all of whom live in the nearby area.

Fred will be remembered for his humility, hard work, and positive attitude, generosity to others, love of animals, and his sense of humor.A family gathering was held on November 12, 2009, to celebrate his life.

A mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, TX, in the near future and his ashes will be placed to rest locally.

The family request that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy association – ALS Division, 12750 Merit Drive, Suite 1220, Dallas, TX 75251.

 

 

Eva Mae Ellison

Eva Mae Ellison

Eva Mae Ellison, 60 of Denton passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Denton.She was born October 12, 1949 in Yazoo City, Miss.To Thomas Luther Ellison and Eva RussellEllison.She moved to Texas in 1963.

She was a resident of DSS from 1964 to 1980.She moved into the community based program in 1980 and then with the Denton MHMR HCS Program in 1998.She had many friends and enjoyed being a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and had worked at M.C. Plastics for many years.

Eva is survived by her step-aunt, Nora Saums of Bigleville VA and her best friend Janet Allen.

A special thanks to her Family Living Services caretaker of 8 years, LaFrancis J. Ewing, DCMHMR Respite Team and Senior Care Center Staff that loved, cared and provide comfort for Eva while she was there.

A graveside service will held on November 9, 2009 at the Little Elm Cemetery in Little Elm, TX.

 

 

Mary Virginia Gary

Mary Virginia Gary, 77, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Denton, Texas.

She was born on January 20, 1932 in Decatur, TX to parents Terry, (Buck), and Blanche (Feezell) Padgett.She was a member at Cooper Creek Baptist Church, Denton, TX for many years.

Mary is survived by a brother, Jim Padgett and wife Olivia of Midland, TX and a sister, Frances and husband J.C. Myrick of Conroe, TX, half sister, Ruby Skelton of Midland, TX and two nephews; Terry Padgett and Neal Myrick, three nieces; Donna Mosing, Susan Kruse and Nancy Myrick and several cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, several aunts and uncles and two children who died in infancy.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery at 1:30 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Pastor Rick Montgomery will officiate.

The family wishes to thank Denton Nursing for the care given to Mary for many years and Blue Bonnet Hospice for the past few weeks.

J.W. Henson

J.W. Henson, 79, of Aubrey, died Monday November 23, 2009 at The Atrium Medical Center in Corinth.

Mr. Henson was born on May 20, 1930 in Kaufman, TX to William Sloan and Georgia (Anderson) Henson. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was married to Ruth Pontley on June 19, 1974 in Durant, OK. He was a member of the Gateway United Baptist Church in Denton and was a barber.

 A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 pm, Tuesday November 24 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Gateway United Baptist Church. Rev. Buddy Owens will officiate the service. Interment will be at 12:30 pm Tuesday December 1, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Henson of Aubrey; daughter, Cathey Gilson of Carrollton, Andrea Colella of New York; stepdaughters, Margaret Tipping of Greenville, Lisa Vincent of Carrollton; son, Todd Henson of Frisco; brothers, Jimmy Henson of Longview, R.L. Henson of Tyler, Ollie Henson of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one great-great grandson.

 Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
