Cory Lee Van Gilder

Cory Lee Van Gilder, 21, of Denton passed away Sunday, December 06, 2009 in Denton as a result of a car accident. Services are pending with Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors.

 

 

MeLinda Joyce Mitchell

Aubrey – MeLinda Joyce Mitchell, 52 of Aubrey, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at her residence. She was born on Jan. 28, 1957 in Hamilton, AL. She married Junior Ray Mitchell. She was project manager for U.S. Signs.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church in Aubrey with Sonny Gibbs officiating, burial will follow at Belew Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Junior Ray Mitchell of Aubrey; one son, Wesley Ray Mitchell of Krum; two daughters, Stephanie Mitchell of Lake Dallas and Amber Dawson of Krugerville, and one grandchild Davanie Mitchell of Krum. She is also survived by her father and stepmother, Treaver and Rhonda Owen of Denton and Mother, Joyce Cooper of Pilot Point; one brother, Phil Owen of Pilot Point; one sister, Jackie Dawson of Aubrey; as well as nephews Kyler Dawson of Denton and Aimry Dawson of Aubrey and niece, Haley Dawson of Krum, along with several other nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mistee Cooper.

Services under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, TX.

 

 

Elizabeth Margaret (Rich) Stewart

Denton — Elizabeth Margaret (Rich) Stewart, 88, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at her home. She was born June 11, 1921 to Michael and Mary Donatelli Rich in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Elizabeth graduated from high school and was a member of the first group of Waves ever inducted into the United States Navy. Elizabeth married Phillip D. Stewart on June 22, 1944. They were married for over 52 years at the time of Phillip’s death.

She is survived by her brother, Leroy Rich of Beloit, Wisconsin; sons, Jeff Stewart of Denton and Gregory Steward of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Kendall, Christian, Robert, Taylor, Colby, Braden and Landon. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Phillip, a brother Edward Rich and a sister Laura Graczyk.

The family will be at Denton Funeral Home, 120 S. Carroll Boulevard, Monday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. for visitation followed by a Rosary at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Denton. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers to honor the life of Elizabeth Stewart, that donations be made to St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Denton, Texas.
